My daughter had an outbreak at her place of work. 6 out of the 15 people in her work pod tested positive. She said it was no surprise who got the virus. It was the people mocking her wearing her mask everywhere, and following all of the guidelines. Now that her quarantine period is over, she's getting all of the double shifts she wants.

Quite frankly, I don't care what the politicians say or do, I listen to the scientists and follow their advice as much as possible. So if the politicians are going out and doing stupid shit, and holding parties, I don't give a rat's ass. I'm going to stay home and wait for my vaccine date to arrive. It won't be long.

You can avoid viruses. They are not living organisms they are proteins with a fat layer and are only microns in size. The best way is to wash your hands with soap and hot water this melts the fat layer the same way soap and water melts the fat layer on your hands and cleans them. 70% alcohol also melts that layer and renders the virus 'dead' or unable to infect. Masks are generally not enough of a barrier as they can let viruses through easily. Masks do stop droplets that may contain virus however the chances of you coming in contact with another person's sputum is miniscule compared with touching something containing the virus, getting it on your hands and transferring it to your face via dawning your mask. There is a pathogen, disease, accident etc. that, in the end, will find one's weak spot and sicken or possibly kill them. Life is hard and dangerous. Hiding behind and mask or in your basement does not challenge your immune system so it can fight of that which you cannot see, feel or touch.

After some time we found out that masks help also not to infect the own person. But this effect is secondary. Both effects slow down the speed of the infection (=the number of the people who are infected at the same time) and give more people the possibility not to have to die alone in the gutter but to get a chance to be healed in a hospital.

Dining in a restaurant may expose one to many pathogens. In the past no one was worried much because the chances of contracting something was (and is) pretty miniscule. Also, for perspective, COVID has a 95% survival rate. Naturally if one has a comorbididity, it is ill advised to expose oneself to densely crowded areas but that has always been so.
