Standing around talking today after teaching summer school classes. Bitching about taxes, crime, bureaucracy, and how ridiculous society has become. Not one loony lefty word spoken. In fact, the one black guy in the group (program manager for summer enrichment courses) was the first to roll his eyes and scoff at the "you must be an evil oppressor because you're white" nonsense too often heard these days. He was having nothing to do with it.

So to all the "experts" who know everything teachers think and everything that goes on in schools they haven't set foot in for decades: :fu:

None of us have to think about it. 99.% of todays teachers and professors are bat chit crazy left wing nut cases.....
And you know this rather specific figure, how? This is exactly the kind of ignorant, illogical bullshit I was talking about.

What do teachers really do when they're locked away in that back room and having a teacher's meeting?

I bet it's drug-fueled orgies, table dancing, hot sex, and satan worship. Nobody could be as mild-mannered as a teacher without having an alter ego.

We have a split news media today. One side says teachers can do no wrong, the other calls them groomers. They both are pandering to their viewership to get ratings.

So it is not 99% whacko. Maybe just 98%. I will even give you 95% sicko. You, or no one else can claim that the vast majority of today's educators are not firmly embedded in the socialist democratic party. A despicable group of misguided fools determined to finish the job of destroying this once great country.

THIS ^^^^^^^^ kind of bullshit is exactly what I was referring to with this thread.

So maybe the actual attitudes of teachers may be one thing, but what the public sees is the Leftist insanity of the NEA and the AFT - the organizations, you might recall, who insisted that America's school children couldn't possibly come to school to learn during the Pandemic (while private and parochial school students around the country were doing exactly that).

What the country sees is the kindergarten teacher in Florida who can't imagine teaching her tykes without bringing up her lesbian partner and lifestyle. What the country sees is fifth graders being taught the joys of anal sex, little children being taught that their gender is a "choice," and that everyone's preferred pronouns must be accepted and affirmed.

Who is the spokesperson for the sane teachers? Seems a little silent these days.

No smarter than we need to be, it would seem.

That's obviously not a compliment.

I always thought fairly highly of my profession until Covid hit. Then I watched them check any critical thinking at the door and bleat like mindless sheep about wearing a piece of cloth over their faces sewn by their Aunt Laura, which would surely save grandma from dying (!) and also, we can't possibly go back to school ever, because....whatever.

Watching the majority of my profession buy heartily into Group Think was disheartening. However, it explained our love for "classroom management". Many teachers are just savvy enough to "manage" people with systems of reward and consequences; sadly, our admins, who evaluate us, are often worse, and so look for only these systems. Manage--not motivate, much less inspire.
