Half the inflation rate each year will eventually balance the budget. What you typed is a reason why we will not do it. The pain will be slow if there is any. There is corruption in our government. 30 years ago I came close to having to file for bankruptcy... I had $150,000 in unsecured debt.... I almost lost my home and did lose my marriage... I fought my way out and swore I'd never let that happen again....

I can balance the budget and solve the debt very easily.

1. Ban all tax expenditures except the EITC. That's $2 trillion of cuts right there.

2. Raise the Social Security and Medicare eligibility ages to 70 and index them to 9 percent of the population going forward. We are living much longer than our ancestors, we should be working longer. Common sense.

I would be too but those forced to work while their pay is withheld is a downer. Especially considering that wages are still flowing as normal for those in Congress.
