To hear Protestants (and novus ordo "catholics") tell it, a person can get to Heaven without even being in ANY church or alleged church..

That is true. Many people have encountered Jesus, been transformed and never stepped inside a church building. Have you ever spoken to or seen a Muslim convert who was saved and had to live the rest of their life in hiding for fear of death?

Some Protestants say you can sin your *** off and still get into Heaven...

And you think all Protestants believe that? Regardless, some Catholics believe heresies as well. Does that make Catholicism null and void?

He established a grand total of ONE

And that ONE exists in all denominations, but not every member of ANY denomination is a Christian. This is not even controversial.

Catholics with whom I have been speaking, would you care to address this? This is one who believes non-Catholics are not Christians. I'll be glad to take this one, but here's a chance for you to set the record straight.

And don't say Jesus was addressing Peter's statement. No one talks to a statement. We talk to other living beings... like Peter, the first pope.

So Protestants need to stop acting like Peter was no more special than the other 11. Peter was the first pope, and hopefully he is looking down from Heaven on what is going on in the supposed Catholic Church (the Vatican, which is NOT the Catholic Church)

And there you display your lack of comprehension. Gates are defensive, NOT offensive. Jesus is saying that we, His universal Church, are equipped to attack hell. By spreading the Good News of the Gospel, we can literally pull people out of the gates of hell, and it can't stand against us.

I'll take this a step further. Let us remember that Jesus's mission was to unite ALL THINGS to God the Father.

Ephesians 1:7-10
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight 9 making known[c] to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

When Jesus said that the "Gates of Hell will NOT prevail", he was saying that they will NOT prevent him from saving and uniting ALL beings to God.
