16,000 to 18,000 fast food workers lost out in CA

The industry consented to it to end Newsom's effort to upend the franchise model by holding the branded company liable for the the misdeeds of the franchised restaurant owners/managers. Thing is their victory was all but inevitable anyway, so the only reason they would logically have consented to do it is because they were already planning to purge workers anyway. Newsom gets to save face by claiming a win for the little guy and the franchise owners get to blame Newsom for the purge that was already coming. It was a political win-win and damn be the consequences.
Sure, who doesn't love higher prices, higher unemployment and closed businesses.

Ole Gavin putting his "street" sense to work and turn it into "gutter" sense. And imagine that, many warned him.
Some of you want this clown to run for President?

By the time California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law the $20 minimum wage for fast food workers, he had been warned by many that it would be devastating for the industry, but he did it anyway. Now, 16,000 fast food jobs have been lost and fast food prices are up more than 14.5%. And here is why: the $20 minimum wage harms California’s least skilled and least experienced workers, as they are no more productive, but are significantly more expensive, and results in harms the business owners as well.

Why would anyone have to work when the Dems'll get them free stuff? They can pimp, whore and gangbang and still get free stuff after all, even illegals.

Now they aren’t making a dime.

That Gavin Newsome is a disaster of epic proportions. It’s hilarious he thinks he is Presidential material.:auiqs.jpg:

HOW has he not been shot yet? Or hanged?
Or impeached? Or just dragged out of office and stoned to death?

The deplorable dirty masses who don't matter might not love it, but they'll just have to choose between democrats anyway so what does it matter? Nobody beats the democrats when it comes to the war on poor people (although Trump is giving them a run for their money this term).

I thought In-N-Out had it figured out out west. A large staff of young kids (age 14-18?) In full clean uniform, smiling, polite, nice, apparently fast and smart. They learned how to show up, dress up, talk, work around others. Compared to a BK crew, night and day.

But then CA GOVT stepped in?

Cashless Kiosks. Those with cash w/o credit can't eat?

I have a relative with several fast food franchises in KKKalifornia.

The kiosks eliminate employees, and since installing them customers spend a little over $2 more on average each order using the kiosk.

When the minimum wage went to $20 it immediately added $1.7 million to their payroll, and they were already paying $2 over minimum for all positions for retention purposes. No more.

Leftists/Democrats/'the woke don't seem to have any sense of basic economics.

Labor, like all other factors in running a business, has a value that is regulated by a free market system. The wise businessperson does not always go for the cheapest but does pay as little as he/she needs to in order to get the quality/efficiency/effectiveness that will help the business thrive. He will not/cannot pay more in wages that what those workers earn for him plus a reasonable profit

The fast food business is no different that any other business. The owner provides the infrastructure, pays the bills for utilities, maintenance, licensing, insurance, fees, maintenance, product to be sold etc. and provides jobs for the necessary people to run that business. A new hire might start at minimum wage but very few stay there as they gain experience and effectiveness and value that increases their worth to the owner.

But require him to pay those workers more than what their labor produces for the business, and those workers have to go. You keep the bare minimum that you can get by with.

Since minimum wage is not liveable, many minimum wage jobs are taken by teenagers, rather than heads of households.

Anyone who works with teenagers knows that having a job increases their self-esteem, especially those who don't excell in academics, sports, or other school-based activities. At work, they feel needed, valued - yes, even at minimum wage, they are valued - and held to high standards that they are able to meet.

They learn the value of work on a team, and the importance of "making a hundred" in every task, not settling for 70%. They are thus more likely to become successful adults after learning a skilled trade. Or they realize that more education means more money, and they begin to excell academically, and become engineers, accountants, or other jobs in which the title of the major is the title of the occupation.

Such teenagers are not likely to grow up and vote Democrat, which is another reason Democrats oppose entry-level jobs.

Use to be where minimum wage jobs were intended for teens, to help them learn a work ethic and make a few bucks. Sure don't know anyone that ever aspired to be a Senior Burger Flipper or French Fry Engineer.

Is it as simple as GOVT income increases with higher wages and prices?

Tax rates are fixed? Need more money? Raise the prices and wages?

Cost of GOVT could also increase with inflation wiping out any gains?
