Mississippi law provides a Romeo-and-Juliet exception for consensual sexual intercourse or penetration between: a minor who is 14 or 15 years old and their partner is less than three years older, or. a minor who is 13 or younger and their partner is less than two years older.

You can't blame this situation on "the Right" when, indeed, this girl could have taken Plan B, could have gotten an abortion, and could have, in fact, gone elsewhere for the late abortion. This is people not taking advantage of what's offered, and there will always be that, no matter what.

I have seen enough rape cases to know that keeping the secret of molestation occurs when the rapist is known. A family member or neighbor. Not strangers. The trauma of the rape of a virgin child would have left the girl bloody and crying if not screaming. Especially if the rapist was a stranger. There are all kinds of peripheral trauma. A girl might be afraid to be alone. Avoid the place that the rape took place. There is damage having nothing to do with not having an abortion. I also do not buy the tall tale of the girl knowing nothing about sex at all.
