Mining it is very costly because of the breathing apparatus that must be used to keep the miners safe, but once asbestos is locked in a matrix it is extremely stable. The problems come when you start fucking with it. Back in the dark ages (the 1900's) the wonders of asbestos made it a popular additive in many products that shouldn't have used it. That obviously was a problem.
However, when used properly, it is as safe as any other material.
So is gasoline if you drink it. However, used properly gasoline is safe and the juice that powers this planet. It’s not surprising that Mr. Trump supported asbestos, considering that this material was used extensively in his Trump Tower, where it put the very construction workers who built the mammoth, 98-floor building, at risk. The shady contractor working under Trump hired over 200 illegal Polish immigrants as part of the construction team. None of the employees were given hard hats and they were paid less than half of the minimum wage mandated by the construction union. A 1998 article by the New York Times reported that the illegal workers “often worked in choking clouds of asbestos dust without protective equipment.”
Trump, for his part, denied knowing anything about the poor working conditions. He further denied knowing that his employees were undocumented.
The Polish employees eventually banded together and filed a class-action lawsuit against Trump for not paying them. After 8 years of legal battles, a federal judge in Manhattan ruled that Trump conspired with his construction contractor to withhold wages from the worker unions. Pretty much describes EVERYTHING that is used on the planet now doesn't it? Gasoline, asbestos, salt, mercury, cotton, wool, etc. All totally safe when used properly, but not when abused or used improperly.
Nitro on the other hand. That is inherently dangerous no matter who you are. Rendered into dynamite though, and once again, when used properly, it is safe. Never let a uneducated person try and actually learn something though. Oh no. Once they are told something that's it. No effort at individual thought at all.
