How can nuclear kill birds?
Radiation kills almost everything. If you're a cockroach you may be OK though.

Why don't all you fossil fuel fuckers go fuck yourselves?
Wind energy is here to stay and it will only get bigger.

Where in the US are birds being killed by commercial nuclear power??

Where in the US are birds being killed by commercial nuclear power??
Anywhere they get near the waste, or near anything that got near the waste, or anything that got near what got near the waste, etc etc etc. And if it's not happening, it's a good start; we only need to keep that up for, oh, at least five times the entire timespan of human existence. What could possibly go wrong with that, right?
On the other hand, once a wind turbine blade goes by ----- that's it; done.
Yeah, pretty much a tossup.

The only exposed toxic level nuclear waste in this country comes from the Govt's mishandling of the waste from it's weapons labs. Low level hospital nuclear waste has SOME environmental exposure because the GOVT (again) reneged about completing Yucca Mtn.. There simply is no high level waste from commercial nuclear power plants exposed to the environment in this country..
However, there IS CONSIDERABLE radioactive fallout from coal plants. And the boilers of those plants are so radioactive, that workers have to wear dossimeters and haz-mat suits when they do maintenance..
You need a bigger picture of WHO is generating nuclear waste irresponsibly -- and it aint the nuclear power plants..
Your facts are a little off. Wind energy makes up at least 20% of energy demand.Let's say your home has a 200 amp service. Further, let's say your 200 amp service represents all the power generation of the entire planet.
Wind's share of your service represents a power draw of 0.36 watts.
Do you know what you can do with 0.36 watts?
Nothing.
So you go turn off all the power in your house and wait for wind to light you back up. Meanwhile, the rest of us will enjoy lights, electronic devices, appliances, and air conditioning.
So, if you have a 200A service at 120/240V, single-phase, that service will never see more than a 1/3 of what is connected to it. That gives you a demand load of 60A. At 120/240V, single-phase, is 14,400 watts. With wind energy making up 2880 watts.Studies have indicated that 20% of the total annual electrical energy consumption may be incorporated with minimal difficulty.
Who say's you have to restrict it to one energy source? Why don't all you fossil fuel fuckers go fuck yourselves?
Wind energy is here to stay and it will only get bigger.
You cannot run a modern society on an energy source that has a production chart that looks like the graph I posted above...
You need ANOTHER ONE???
[/IMG]
Here for 20 minutes --- gone for an hour.. Here on Wed --- gone on Thurs...
Produces an average of 1/3 of the power you pay for.. Has to have grid ties sized to the MAX production, but usually utilizes 1/3 or less or nothing of that..
Can't contract for a fixed delivery amount.. It's a non-starter ................ fucker....
You got nothing that is an "alternative".. At best, it's a flaky supplement. Should be used to produce fuels like hydrogen OFF GRID --- so that the AVERAGE energy can be stored in the fuel itself..

Bullshit! That is the recorded US output for 2012.In your previous post about wind being up to "20% of grid demand" -- that's an assertion with facts not in evidence..
It doesn't sit "idley" by. When you're using wind power, you are putting energy back on to the grid, which, by law, utility company's must give you a rebate for that energy. It says it COULD be 20% of grid demand, but not without total 100% back up from another RELIABLE source of power.. What RELIABLE source do you want want to back it up with? And how much you gonna pay that RELIABLE source to sit idle for 20 minutes at a time while the wind blows???

Listen dude, I've been an electrical engineer for the last 30 years. Do you really wanna go down this road?
Oh yes it does. It shows the United States has the capacity to create 60MW of the power. Divide that by the total energy use in the US and you get your %.Oh how nice.. A fellow IEEE member that can't read and understand a simple data table.. How novel is that??
When did you join IEEE? Guess we need to start testing professionally.
That chart you posted show % the entire WORLDS installed wind capacity.. NOT the % of power that it creates on ANY grid..
You're the only one playing make believe here. How 'bout a little test?YOU ---- sure you want to go on with this EE charade???
That's absolutely ridiculous. The utility company's can open circuit breakers and lock out certain sections where customers are putting energy back on to the grid. In fact, when you have an alternate source of power, you will have to have a transfer switch in between your alternate source and the grid. And you must coordinate with the serving utility the conditions and requirements that would allow you to put power back onto the grid.OF COURSE the primary generators must go to idle when the wind IS threatening to overpower the grid. When it can go from 0% to 95% in 20 minutes or from 90% to 0% in 4 minutes, OTHER sources must be dumped or prepared to produce. Because the GOVT PROTECTS wind generation with "must carry" laws..

You have a 1600A, 480/277V, 3ph, 4w service. Do you need GFI?

So no, the grid is not threatened by your little propeller.
U.S. Installed Record 13.2 Gigawatts Of Wind Energy In 2012 - Forbes
The U.S. now boasts a total of 60 gigawatts of wind energy, accounting for 6% of the nation’s total generating capacity.
How the fuck would you know?Good, I'm relieved. The guy who can't read a simple table and now can't do math is an ELECTRICIAN -- not an electrical engineer..
More jibberish. The world is safe except for his clients.
The 5th. Next question.Better question for the electrician.. Which is the higher energy Fourier harmonic of a square wave? The 5th or the 4th? No peeking...
A subject you are an expert at.BULLSHIT....
I wasn't off at all.U.S. Installed Record 13.2 Gigawatts Of Wind Energy In 2012 - Forbes

Here's the problem with even that 6%.. Wind never averages more than 36% or so of it's placarded capacity in a year.. Making that 6% --- a more realistic 2.2%..
2.2% that is GONE for hours and days at a time..
(Gee -- you were only off by an order of magnitude))..
I already explained why you're FOS here. The rest of your ramblings about opening breakers and crap indicates you have no idea how long it takes a nat gas peaker plant to fire up or shut down in response to a flaky wind production. All that energy and heat ends up being wasted and contributing to wear and tear on the generators that MUST BE ACTIVELY backing up wind every minute of operation...
And more jibberish. And those COSTS and the costs of the guys at the fossil fuel plants OUGHT TO BE CHARGED to wind. But they'll just show up on your bill..........
