Workable solutions re: feed the hungry

You're right...............you CAN buy a burger in America for around a dollar.

However........................that burger has a lot of unhealthy consequences, and one of them is obesity. Another one is diabetes, because that 1 dollar hamburger has a lot of unhealthy consequences.

Did you know that buying healthy food (such as fresh veggies and fresh meat) is more expensive than buying the processed crap that the corporations put out?

Might want to check into it sometime.

Google can be your friend (or any other search engine).
Yeah, that's a hackneyed mantra spouted by lefties when confronted with the fact that so many of the poor are fat. No, healthy food is not more expensive, though what you might call lazy food is.

Healthy Food Isn't Necessarily More Expensive Than Junk Food, Study Finds

Tell ya what.................try to cook a healthy meal for a family of 3 (Father, Mother and 1 Child) for less than what you could fill them up on Mickey D's, or Burger King.

I'm guessing you can't, because fresh fruit, veggies and fresh meat are more expensive than the processed crap you get at a fast food venue.

Yeah................I compared them, and yeah, it's cheaper to eat at some fast food place than it is to cook my own, because the prices are high, and most people nowadays are addicted to convenience.
People are addicted to convenience! Can't you just say they're fucking lazy. America has one of the lowest food cost per person in the world and fresh produce is not expensive. Poor people are fat because they have bad nutritional habits and many are lazy. Providing them with EBT cards is throwing fuel on a fire. Then, of course, we have to foot the bill for diabetes and other fat-related diseases which invariably develop. Brilliant!

Apparently, food stamps are Bad and Wrong. Minimum wage is fine as is - or maybe we should end it. There aren't enough jobs, and no training is being offered that a destitute person can afford.

In the real world, what is your solution to hunger in the USA.

Maybe there should be facilities like prisons, but only for poor people. To run such a place would likely cost more than welfare - but it is a thought. People would be fed, clothed, and sheltered, which is more security than many of them have now.

First, you need to show me that hunger is a problem. I am not talking about missing a single meal once a month, that isn't hunger, show me the people that are actually hungry, as in getting a single bowl of rice a day to eat, and we can work on getting them food.

It was never the Federal Governments job to "feed" the people. Charities and local Governments can fill the need.

If they could have filled the need, then the government would not have needed to get involved.

Vets as well? Soldier's families?

You do understand that when you are talking about soldiers families that receive SNAP you are talking about E-1s through E-3s that have more than 3 children, don't you? You get free housing, free medical and dental, no property taxes, can buy anything you need without paying local taxes, and the only people who need SNAP are the ones that have more children than they can afford even under those circumstances.

Well the charities are not rising to the occasion

Could that be because the government is trying to regulate them out of existence?

Eagle, they haven't trickled down since Reagan invented the term. It's a fallacy.

There is no such thing as trickle-down economics.

That argument would make more sense if you did not simultaneously argue that the shrinking middle class is a major problem.

Or did you think that the fact that the middle class is shrinking means that more people are poor?

What "hunger" in the US? The biggest health problem for poor people is obesity. This thread is based on reverse "logic" which defines hunger by the number of food stamp recipients. Why not define "hearing impaired" by the number of free cell phones?

Undernourishment in adults is caused by drug addiction and/or mental illness. In children, it is caused by parental neglect.

You can buy a hamburger for $1 almost anywhere in America.

Eating a $1 hamburger is not going to make you fat.

Fuck, eating super sized meals from Mickey Ds is not going to make you fat unless you don't eat anything else, and don't exercise.

Why do you keep supporting food subsides if you think cheap food is so bad?

The "reason" the government got involved is because it is the government, and needs to be involved in everything in order to justify its existence to people like you.

The government could quit their ever increasing confiscation of taxes and leave a little spending cash in people's pockets. This allows them to buy more, invest more, risk more and for companies to expand to meet the demand, thus creating jobs. People in a free market society with a minimum of government intervention will fare much better than a centralized nanny state government attempting to provide from cradle to grave. See the debacle of Obamacare as an example of how to do it wrong.

if you cant afford a family....then don't have one. I don't care if they are military or not.

People who say that tend to be opposed to abortion. Allow abortion if you don't want people to have families they can't afford.

Better yet, be a responsible adult and control your urges. By the way, condoms and birth control pills are cheaper than cigarettes and beer.......and abortions.

:lmao:

oh honey....i would force abortion on anyone who came up pregnant while on entitlements....right along with a mandatory sterilization of the baby daddy.
so try again, you are barking up the wrong tree with that one.

Fricking aye

Sure they would. It's about power and control. Ask the people who had affordable insurance policies they liked and are now losing because the government has a different standard than the individual. It's a loss of freedom......because they want power and control. It's what governments do best.

Lest we forget, Food Stamps are designed to force people to spend money on groceries instead of other non-essentials. Otherwise we could just give them more money.

Love these threads

It shows the leftist disdain for the family or any option except more government.

fyi; food banks are only allowed to help a family once a month for a max of 6 times in a year.

b/c of gov regs

The gov regs they must follow is because that food is subsidized by federal funds.

For food they give away that is not federally funded, they can give out as much as they want.

Wow.Are.You.Gullible.

EBT cards are underground currency that can be traded for drugs, cash, etc.
