So why has the Presbyterian church – still Northern Ireland’s largest Protestant denomination, despite falling numbers – decided to retreat into this cold, ugly form of exclusionary fundamentalism, so defiantly out of kilter with the spirit of the times?

Why is Presbyterian Church in Ireland marching into the dark?

The Church of Social Justice can run you out of a restaurant, even if you're NOT one of their number, simply for disagreeing with one of their tenets.

Meanwhile, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland will let you into their church even if you are openly sinning. You can come there and learn and worship, you just can't be a member. They won't come into public places and run you out. They will even let you into THEIR private place. They just won't let you join.

But of course, this is egregious.
