Theories about demonic possession

Seems there are various theories of demonic possession and how this phenomina occurs.

Theory is that when people dream, they can become possessed by "nightmares" which warp their consciousness, akin to 'sleepwalking' or acting out a nightmare fantasy in real life - most likely many who commit heinous crime were possessed by a demon in their dreams.

If one had evil ancestors in past, there is something which suggest the spirits of ancestors in hell can 'possess' a descendent to carry on their evil deeds after death. Such as how if one had a Nazi in their ancestral past, if they are lacking in Godly guidance, the evil spirit of their Nazi ancestor might attempt to possess them in dreams and make them carry out evils in the present life.

Maybe the family heritage of mass shooters and serial killers such as the Dylan Roofs of the world today should be studied - as is very likely they had individual in family heritage attempting to escape hell and carry on reign of terror via controlling a descendant. Wouldn't suprise me if Dylan had Nazi in family heritage. Maybe many serial killers and rapists were descendent of Marquis de Sade, or someone like de Sade?
