The rightwing viral emails I get are simply amazingly disgusting.

I am amazed that supposedly intelligent people would generate and distribute such things with such enthuiasm.

I get them becuase of past coworkers and I did not discuss politics at work.
They apparently assumed I was a rightwingnut since I was an ok guy.

I get the same e-mails from some right wing nutters I know and from loony left nuts like Rightwinger that I'm friends with. A few are funny but most are like Rwingers' post above, partisan, pathetic, and uninformed, they always get trashed. A few of the most virulent senders I've either blocked or asked not to mail that crap to me.

I am sure there are some from the left as well. I hawever have only gotten a handful of them. My left wing leaning friends like be do not seem to indulge in viral emails.
Right wingers seem more into that for some reason.

That's been my experience as well - but I do live in a pretty conservative area and most of my co-workers lean far right. I have gotten some emails and jokes from one co-worker on the far left - but they are never political.

Well I do think that plays into how so many on the far right can follow their opinion leaders into such absurd positions. When the idiocy is pointed out "why that's just 'the world' persecuting us for our beliefs. And if 'the world' ain't persecuting us for our beliefs, we must be doing something wrong."

For the most part what you've posted is true. I do think it's more a matter of media (which ones different people use to pass information and insaneformation). Four of my "neocon" friends run from mild to CrusaderFrankish in their mailings but only one of the two "leftist loons" send shit like Rightwinger posts all the time the other only does so on specific people and issues. A couple of other liberal and conservative friends refuse to do the same via e-mail but instead use messageboards such as this one. They don't believe e-mail is for political bashing.
