Why does Obama use the term ISIL instead of ISIS

Who's bombing the hell out of them right now?

We're BOMBING is Syria, NOW??????

umm... The desire is an islamic Caliphate throughout the entire middle east and beyond not just" the Levant" So why insist on being the only one to use that term? We should have taken care of them when they were killing our people in Benghazi, not waiting for them to develop into what they are now...Obama's pathetic.. Maybe this "Levant" is something he learned while attending his islamic school as a kid.

Levant is a term of European origin, NOT Islamic.

Humm..Sunni just said the islamist nutjobs we're using it..imagine that

Both statements can't be right? Logic isn't your forte, is it?

Did you miss the article I posted? Syria or not, we're bombing ISIS/ISIL.

Perhaps what the PENTAGON says about the bombing will help you understand that it's doing little to ISIS....

Lt. Gen. William Mayville, the Pentagon’s top war planner, today sought to lower expectations for the current US air war in Iraq, insisting the attacks are having only very limited effects on ISIS operations, and a very temporary impact.

Lt. Gen. Mayville insisted the current air war did not mean ISIS was “contained” or even that its momentum was effectively stalled, and that the current strikes are mostly focused on keeping ISIS from moving directly on Irbil.

Well it looks like however reluctantly Obama is doing something ..That's what matters to these liberal cult followers

Who cares what we call it. Let's bomb 'em to oblivion then forget they ever existed!

They started out as ISIS (Iraq / Syria) and have now expanded their stated agenda into including the Levant. ...

They are still ISIS not ISIL.... Lets keep it accurate shall we?
ISIS or ISIL The debate over what to call Iraq 8217 s terror group - The Washington Post

The Washington Post has been referring to the organization as ISIS, shorthand for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. This is how most news organizations that operate in English began identifying the outfit when it emerged as a dangerous fighting force two years ago, launching terror strikes and carving out territory amid the Syrian civil war.

But the acronym that's now deployed by many agencies as well as the United Nations and the U.S. State Department — and President Obama — is ISIL, for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. Here's how the Associated Press justified switching its acronym style from ISIS to ISIL.

Here is an explanation of the difference of ISIS and ISIL in a nutshell. .....

The group fighting for the restoration of the Caliphate in the middle east uses the arabic name "Al-Dawla Al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham"

Which means: the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham.

In the english language the last word "al-Sham" is translated as "Levant"

(al-Sham/Levant basically means the collective lands of Lebanon, Israel, Syria, Jordan)

The media used the acronym ISIS .......but incorrectly stated the last letter stood for Syria. (when it actually stood for al-Sham)

Hence the confusion by the public.

For the still confused, the correct use in english would be ISIL

Hope this helped........ :eusa_angel:
