Dunno if one isn't as bad as the other, but the news anchor said that those were the correct terms to use.

Actually, I believe that pedophilia is about an attraction to prepubescent children. That does not mean any specific age, but instead a level of physical maturity. It will generally mean younger than 13, but is different on a case by case basis.
