Simply because Henry Ford and Ford motor company doubled the wages of their workers in 1917 overnight. They literally doubled the wages. It was what some called revolutionary. And what It did was it benefited everybody, benefited the employer, the worker, and the economy in general

And guess what the excuses are today people say if a company raises the wages of their workers it’s just “going to increase the costs for the customer”. Well, all you have to do is look at Ford motor company the example that was cited here. It can be done and it should be done. It will benefit everyone. There’s more cash flow all over the place and it’s benefiting middle-class people if it’s done this way. Even though costs may have gone up a little bit in the 1920s, so what everyone benefited from what Ford motor company did.

If Amazon doubled the wages of their employees guess what would happen. ???Just like it was with Ford motor company in 1917. Amazon employees would use the extra money to buy Amazon products.

Because of those companies like Ford, General Motors, and republic steel We had the strongest middle class in the history of the world and we had it for about 70 years…

It reduced their massive turnover. They didn't do it to be nice.

You should definitely buy an existing company and do that.

Absolutely, you should do that.
Post your success story here.

Henry Ford and others did do that, and they are American heroes. They employed Americans of all religious background and racial background.

Ford motor company employed millions of Americans and boosted our economy.

We need another Henry Ford

The dollar was backed by gold then, keeping prices quite stable.

Today, such an act as you propose and across the board, would have a massive inflationary impact.

I’ll give you this much. Amazon and Walmart, which are some of the largest employer in America don’t produce the same goods that Ford, General Motors and republic steel did. Never the less the point remains

Also, regardless of the gold backing the American dollar is worth 30% less today under Biden than it was under Donald Trump. Because of inflation.

again to your point something to be added on. Walmart produces cheap goods…crap food, low quality things. Whereas Ford motor company produced automobiles that were reliable. The Ford motor T was reliable. General Motors and American steel companies produced very reliable industrial goods.

The reality is that, 1) too much greed destroys the economy. What would Bezos do if he had $10B less than the absurd amount he has today? Owners have to be willing to accept lower profits, but will shareholders? Two, prices would invariably go up because, see point 1. You can bet his money is just collecting interest where Old.School American entrepreneurs didn't stop,.they kept creating, which helps expand.employment. I give Musk credit for his foray into different genres. That's a true Maverick, love him or hate him.

Ford was one company ... if every worker in America got a 100% increase in pay inflation will follow ..

You clearly lack any hint of any grasp of economics.

When California raised the minimum wage to $15.00 the effect was immediate. Fast food places halved the number of employees. They put in ordering Kiosks. Some, looking forward to a $20.00 an hour minimum wage are looking at full robotics. The higher the wage, the fewer employees.

Doubling the wages/salaries of every single American in the country would just shoot the co$t of a new Ford diesel F-350 4x4 from $120,000 before taxes & license fees to $240,000. The ONLY way INFLATION can be beat is to cut overhead in both the private sector & ESPECIALLY G'MENT, neither which seems any too popular with Americans in general @ current.

That's the difference between forced upon by government and a sole proprietorship or partnership doing so if they have financial health and the acceptance of !ower profits. There is no way the entire economy could or should do so. Clearly the OP is living in a fantasy world, with no appreciation.for.the cause and effect, however, some large companies doing so would only boost inflation regionally. Corporations.can't overpay, it has to be based on competition for the best employees.

Not every American. So I can take that back and say major companies should consider doing what Ford motor company did in 1917.. All we have to do is look at American history. Look at how well it worked in the 20th century. The post World War II economic boom ushered in the greatest middle class in the history of the world right here in America largely because of democratic leader ship. Well in those days Democrats cared about America unlike today.

back in those days we didn’t have as many regulations, we did not have anti-Americanism, we did not have low patriotism rates among young Americans. We did not have drug issues that we do Today where many young Americans are totally fine with making the wage of an indentured servant as long as they can smoke drugs all day and watch their porn be lonely, live in a box all day. These were not issues back in the day.

What is the name of your company and when will you be implementing these changes? This is exciting.

I look forward to hearing how successful this strategy works for you.

This is exciting.

Ford motor company did it in 1917 and brought millions of Americans into the middle class.

Henry Ford was one of the most successful men to ever live. The name of his company was Ford motor company.

Ford did offer the 5 dollar workday and profit sharing in order for them to stay and not work for the competition.

It is hard to keep experience workers unless you offer them something more than what they can get across the street.

He did understand the workers.
