Why 2nd Amendment supporters who support mandatory training are wrong….

"Training" won't stop gun crime.
"Training" won't reduce gun violence because gun violence is gun crime

The accidental gun rate is so low that it is statistically ZERO
Wrong, wrong, and wrong.

Safety awareness will:
Reduce gun theft because owners will be less careless about storing guns
Reduce gun crime because fewer guns will be available to criminals via theft
Reduce accidental shootings
Reduce suicides because the gun owner will store the firearm properly.

Best of all it doesn't deny firearms to anyone legally permitted to own one.

I have to disagree with you on one point and agree with you on another.

1. Since target shooting is a recognized Olympic sport and has been since 1896, I hope you'll se that guns are used for pleasurable purposes too.
You might also be surprised to see the number of women who are taking up one of the innumerable types of competitive shooting. (1)

I won't include the times I've seen a respectable sidearm used as a cordless drill but you get the idea.

I agree with you 100%

100% of people who operate or use any dangerous tool are less likely to have injuries or fatalities if they have had training.

Rather than mandatory training requirements, I would prefer to see an incentive program to reward those people who seek training.

Rational or not, my phobia against big government keeps me from supporting mandatory training requirements.

Thanks,

(1). "Top 50 Women in Competitive Shooting"

EXCERPT "From action pistol and bullseye champions, smallbore, high power and precision rifle masters, trapshooters and Olympic gold medalists—SSUSA has compiled this list of 50 (52 to be exact) female athletes that are influencing the ever-changing landscape of competitive shooting—for the better.

Note: This isn’t a ranking, though we purposely grouped the first four women at the front in recognition of the attention generated by their respective shooting careers. Otherwise it’s a random selection, with the goal of presenting female shooters from as many disciplines as possible."CONTINUED
Target shooting is nothing more than practice killing.

2/3 are images of a person.

Do you oppose the government keeping firearms away from small children, violent criminals, violent mental patients?

Then perhaps your fear of government is not as deep as you think.

Well shitbird, let's use your standards.

What, other than killing, purpose do firearms serve.

Saving lives clod....more lives are saved by normal people with guns than are murdered by criminals with illegal guns.

I'll just leave this bit of stupid here for all to see.

Inline quotes make you look like an idiot.
Which, I suppose, is why you use them.
In other words: I'm correct in all respects, you have nothing.
Perhaps you you go back and check your history.

And, once again inline quotes make you look like the idiot you are.
Again: you acknowledge I am correct in all respects and you have, again, nothing.

Already been answered, but offhand: defending soneone from a criminal.

Sport shooting (from cans in the backyard to Olympics) is a huge thing.

2A/RTKBA is Not about ( Hunting ) ( Trap & Skeet ) ( 3Gun Competition ) ( Plinking & Long Range Target with Chassis Rifle ) ( Collecting ) ( Cowboy Guns Both real Historic & Modern ) ...

Firearms deaths, accidental or not, are the most easily preventable.
37% of all shootings are accident and caused by the ignorance and arrogance of the gun owner.

That 37% is an estimate and I'll bet a good portion of those were not accidental but people just told the cops it was.

The fact is the accidental death rate is really the important stat here.

Criminals don't care about gun safety so "training" will not reduce gun crime.

And most people who commit suicide use their own gun and they know where it is and how to unlock the storage container.

Saving lives?

By killing 40K people every year?
By wounding hundreds of thousands of people every year?

Remind me squirtle to NEVER EVER ask YOU to save me.
I don't think your assistance is survivable.

Not for someone who's been permanently disabled and disfigured by one of your fellow "law abiding" gun owners.

But I'm sure a 4 year old having half his face blown off and left permanently disabled is just OK as long as you get to behave stupidly without facing repercussions.

Criminals don't care about gun safety so "training" will not reduce gun crime.

Gun owners who are "safety aware"
Will store their guns safely
Will make sure when they sell a gun to sell it to someone with a valid background check

Which WILL reduce the number of guns available to criminals and therefore, reduce gun crime.

Try thinking beyond the end of the barrel.

No he didn't dumbass.
Got reading?
He said that anyone who hadn't graduate high school would be denied the ability to buy a gub ON THE ASSUMPTION they weren't trained.

You can lie to you, LIAR, but you can't lie to me.

"I would go so far as to support mandatory gun safety training as part of every standard high school curriculum. This way, every adult who has graduated high school could be presumed to have received such training, and that would eliminate training as an excuse or a vehicle to be used to deny anyone's Second Amendment rights."
