Who's Afraid of Socialism?

Thinking is what I do, you might be able to do it too if it wasn't for the indoctrination you received.

It is well known fact that even home education far out-ranks public indoctrination.
This is complete hogwash. I am sorry that you had to go through it. It does explain where all the utopian socialists are coming from though. Just substitute their inconsistent and unsound theory for reality and voila! The stupidity knows no bounds.
Oh Norman, you are a sick puppy.
You appear to be extremely indoctrinated. There is no breadth to your thinking. Critical thinking requires breadth of thought.
He probably thinks (and I us the term loosely) we're advocating Socialism over Capitalism....... :dunno:
Anything beyond capitalism OR socialism is too complex for him to comprehend.

I actually have an education. I would say more degrees than you two multiplied, but you don't have anything I would consider a real degree. This is easy to conclude, as you think that there is something "beyond" socialism or capitalism, rather than them being distinct systems one American, the other a complete failure.

I have zero interest in playing your game of "but what about muh social security". But if you are going to play that game, may I at least recommend picking something that's not 30 trillion in debt and one of the biggest failures in policy making in the last century.

Always remember, socialism is cancer.
I think you should request your tuition back for all those degrees you have. They didn't provide you an adequate education.
Possibly after your many degrees you did mountains of drugs negating all of your learnings.

That's naughty, Fudds. Norman is quite correct though I do understand how you have been misled. it's called "the free shit army" syndrome. Socialism means EVERYTHING is owned by the state; YOU GET SOME CRUMBS and better like it.

I believe in personal responsibility for all that are able. Those in true need, the government or society should help. Too many try to take from government rather than be responsible. It is not just those on welfare and Medicaid. It is corporations, high wealth individuals, politicians. Socialism and Capitalism are theories of governing.
We need to deal with realism. The realism are dealing with those that try and take advantage of government or lack of government for their own greed and at the expense of the rest of society.
WE ALL NEED TO GET REAL!

Dunno about YOUR edumakatshun but mine revolves about my family's personal history. After fighting against one group of Socialists(Nazis) they also fought against the other Socialists(USSR) after WW2. Many were killed or sent to death camps by the Russkies; my own family (father's; I was born here) escaped to The West. So when you wax lyrical about "socialists" I simply beg your forgiveness at considering that you don't really know the enemy your magnificent country helped defeat in the early 90s. I am glad my father lived to see the day.

Me: I went to Bulgaria for a visit a few years ago. They are poor, damaged and in recovery mode, but they are beautiful wonderful people. Their current Gov isn't much good though. Fortunately, no one was stupid enough to lend them money(they did get GRANTS from the EU) so they are now better placed than many in debt smashed Western Europe.

I am no advocate of socialism

I know that but you do seem to confuse charity with "socialism " or "socialist ideas"."Each according to their need" was soon replaced by "each according to their work" in post Mao China. It was just as well though it is still a Totalitarian state.

It's hard to believe that anyone could look at Venezuela or Cuba and see a better system than what we have. But here you go.

Nothing there with which I take issue. I would also include farm lobbies in the US, "Green" industry(power etc) so we're probably not that far apart.

Capitalism made the USA great, Motherfucker.

So what also made it the most just country on earth?"Great" is not just wealth; it is all the other things "great" about the US as well. And believe me: most yanks can't get a handle on the idea of America being the "shiny beacon on the hill". Your Law system, power checks and balances and incredible compassion and generosity is grossly underestimated by both yourselves and stingy "socialist" Europe and the rest of the world.

Greg

I said to many when Chavez was being a pain in the ass that Ven was on the road to being a "shithole" (not my exact word but thank you President Trump) but no: they marveled at the "success" of socialism there. It now is a bigger shithole than Cuba and that's really saying something.

No thanks. One need not look any further than europe to see what a travesty it is.

Indeed, one need look no further than taking public transportation on the public roads past the public park and into the public library right next to the public museum, while the public fire department puts out the fire in the house one just left but the house is damaged so one has to take a flight coordinated by the public FAA and don't forget to pack one's medications safety-approved by the public FDA so that the food one eats, itself screened for toxins by the same agency, doesn't upset one's system thereby requiring medical intervention even though it's covered by Medicare.

Oh and Europe is a proper name btw. Gets an uppercase E.

Thanks grammar queen. I usually never capitalize proper names in this forum. I bet you can't even diagram a compound sentence. As far as your fantasy land dreams about socialist utopia, have fun with the year long waits to see a doctor or enjoy the mass immigration that is overwhelming the already overwhelmed social system they have in place.

The US was extremely close to pure capitalism until 1914 when the government created the Federal Reserve. During that time it became the biggest and richest economy on planet Earth.
How hard is it to prosper when you steal land and use slave labor for the first 100 years?

How Slaves Built American Capitalism

We corrected that wrong. You seriously want to go back to that?

I am politically 'afraid' of big government, neocons, central banks and fiscal deficits.

Socialism always means big government and usually means huge, fiscal deficits.

So I am against it.

Yyyyyeaahhh ummmmm..... why do you think *I* would be unable to diagram a sentence, when you're the wag missing her lower case?

Who’s Afraid of Socialism? | Open Media Boston

"Capitalism’s incompatibility with majority interests has been reaffirmed by the current economic crisis.

"Earlier, the most severe effects of capitalism had been offset, within the US, by the progressive reforms of the 1930s.

"But capital’s political power was less restrained in this country than it was in the other rich countries.

"Flush with military might and bolstered by a mass right-wing culture of arrogant self-righteousness, US capital launched a withering counterattack against the New Deal legacy, culminating in an almost three-decade orgy of anti-welfare legislation, imperialist aggression, privatization, and deregulation."

Unrestrained profit maximization results in concentrating an enormous amount of surplus capital which can find few safe investments.

"Free market" capitalists turn to highly speculative scams which generate financial bubbles as the real economy continues to be hollowed out and the working class is driven deeper into debt.

Socialism would turn to government for an alternative, but US government is Goldman Sachs regardless of which major party is in control.
You can take your socialism and shove it up your ass, just keep that shit to yourselves

Have you ever been to Europe? Have you lived in Europe?
You live in a socialist country, 54% of the budget go to the Military....But hey they don't have money to treat the sick Americans and it's socialist....Australia who has a better and free education system, universal health care, lower poverty rate, higher minimum wage than the US, spends only 2% of its budget on military toys.....socialism is VERY BAD.

Anybody with any common sense or capacity to commit logic is afraid of socialism. All you have to do is look at Venezuela to see why you have to be insane to adopt such economic policies.
Huh? Venezuela ? because they keep feeding you that on fox news? How about Switzerland, Holland, Scandavian countries, Australia, and so many more that their citizens enjoy free health care, decent vacation times, decent wages, decent sick times, free education and a very good safety net?
