Who's Afraid of Socialism?

Slavery has been around for thousands of years. The claim that capitalism created it is obviously absurd.
The claim is NOT that capitalism created slavery, it is that slavery created US capitalism.

Slavery Made America - The Atlantic

"...by 1860, there were more millionaires (slaveholders all) living in the lower Mississippi Valley than anywhere else in the United States. In the same year, the nearly 4 million American slaves were worth some $3.5 billion, making them the largest single financial asset in the entire U.S. economy, worth more than all manufacturing and railroads combined."

In case you don't know, half of the country was torn over the idea of slavery. Then the half that hated slavery, rose up and destroyed the half that engaged in slavery. Now which political party defended slavery again? Hmm?

Conversely, how many communist/socialist countries were free enough to rise up against mass genocide and slaughter, like the Stalin or Moa purges?

"Capitalism’s incompatibility with majority interests has been reaffirmed by the current economic crisis.

"Earlier, the most severe effects of capitalism had been offset, within the US, by the progressive reforms of the 1930s.

"But capital’s political power was less restrained in this country than it was in the other rich countries.

"Flush with military might and bolstered by a mass right-wing culture of arrogant self-righteousness, US capital launched a withering counterattack against the New Deal legacy, culminating in an almost three-decade orgy of anti-welfare legislation, imperialist aggression, privatization, and deregulation."

Unrestrained profit maximization results in concentrating an enormous amount of surplus capital which can find few safe investments.

"Free market" capitalists turn to highly speculative scams which generate financial bubbles as the real economy continues to be hollowed out and the working class is driven deeper into debt.

Socialism would turn to government for an alternative, but US government is Goldman Sachs regardless of which major party is in control.

The Trump Presidency: Oligarchs, Billionaires, Corporations, and Porn Stars

Were you gullible enough to see a meaningful choice between Crooked Hillary and the Red Don?
If what you typed is true about Trump, then we are finished. And that also implicates any TV and radio hosts who have been luke warm to him in the past or were staunchly behind him. The street riots seemed to be reduced since Trump was elected though extremist reactions still exist. The major reason I can respond to this is because we pay high taxes when combined in everything we do. And the ruling class loves their goodies. I still do not see why Trump would run for President for all of this aggravation if he was preselected.
Personally, I don't believe Trump expected to win the Republican nomination much less the White House. I think his plan was to launch Trump TV by luring Roger Ailes, Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly away from Fox News; a strong second place finish in either the primaries or the general election might have provided sufficient capital if this was his plan.

Unfortunately, "New Democrats" like Clinton and Obama had been telling their working class base to vote Republican if they didn't like NAFTA for the past twenty-five years, and after 14 years of "The Apprentice" enough disillusioned Dems voted Republican to give Trump an office he, perhaps, never really wanted.

I suspect it did not take him very long to realize just how much money he and his family could "earn" from his public service, and now statute of limitations concerns could subject him to criminal prosecution if he doesn't stay in office until 2025.

No thanks. One need not look any further than europe to see what a travesty it is.
Have you ever been to Europe? Have you lived in Europe?
You live in a socialist country, 54% of the budget go to the Military....But hey they don't have money to treat the sick Americans and it's socialist....Australia who has a better and free education system, universal health care, lower poverty rate, higher minimum wage than the US, spends only 2% of its budget on military toys.....socialism is VERY BAD.
Me and millions just like me want nothing to do with the fucking nanny state
I just proved to you that the US is a socialist country when it comes to industries that benefit only a few, but when it will benefit the masses they brainwashed you that it's a socialist evil practice. Debunk this fact, I don't want to discuss emotions.
Socialism is of no use to me and millions just like me... fact

Listen, I realize that your school teacher has convinced you that being Left wing is cool and all, but let me ask you, what would make a Cuban board an inner tube and jump out into the ocean with the hopes of floating to Florida?
Maybe the Cuban supported a US backed dictator?

"As celebration and chaos intermingled in the Cuban capitol of Havana, U.S. policymakers debated how best to deal with the radical Castro and the ominous rumblings of anti-Americanism in Cuba."

Pure socialism or pure capitalism does not work. Show me an example of either that works in the real world.
Our government is a blend of both capitalism and socialism, heavier on capitalism.
The key is took get the balance right.
In addition to getting the correct balance between capitalism and socialism, I think it's also useful to adopt a 21st Century definition of the latter ideology:

Democratic socialism - Wikipedia

"Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside social ownership of the means of production[1]with an emphasis on self-management and democratic management of economic institutions within a market or some form of decentralized planned socialist economy.[2]

"Democratic socialists hold that capitalism is inherently incompatible with what they hold to be the democratic values of liberty, equality and solidarity; and that these ideals can only be achieved through the realization of a socialist society."

"Social ownership of the means of production" doesn't require state ownership of land, labor, and capital; majority ownership of the factors of production can also be accomplished by worker owned enterprises.

Capitalism—a system born of slavery

"People across the political spectrum acknowledge that racism exists, but its origins are shrouded in mystery—deliberately so.

Lol
Who sold the slaves to the plantations?
You stupid ass motherfucker

Who’s afraid of socialism? Everyone that lived in a socialist country. Except the leaders that seem to live a life of luxury while everyone else starves.
Where has capitalism existed without mass corruption?

You're mad that rich people bought government power, so your solution is to give government even more power?

Certainly NOT the best.

Here I made a thread on how low Taxes are routine in shitholes.

Shitholes have low taxes, almost always.

Likewise, pure Capitalism leads to the same kind of lack of competition as Communism does.

Corporate Monopolies just like Communism governments do, drive away the competition, with similar results like lack of innovation, jacking up prices, cutting corners making junky products, no income incentive to excel etc. etc.

Also note that our Capitalist issues with Outsourcing, and Illegal Immigration are leading to a ton of loss in wages & lost jobs due to Foreigners.
This is something unique to Capitalism, rather than to Communism.

If you ram your head into a wall... don't blame society. You made that choice. The only person to blame is you.

If you charge up credit cards, and live in debt....don't blame society. You made that choice. The only person to blame is you.

My parents have no debt.
I have no debt.
My relatives have no debt.

We made wise choices, and thus have good results.

The difference between us, and others, is others choose to borrow money, and be slaves to the banks.

Sure, yes, Capitalism does absolutely make way for Immigrants & their children of a foreign nature, like yourself.

The more Capitalist & Greedy the country, the more Immigrants they have flooding in for cheap labor, to sustain the greed of the Elite Capitalists.
