The deep 'state' is part of the shadow government, that is operating outside of the Constitution with unlimited funding from crooked Washington politicians and media figures working with rogue elements within the 3-letter agencies we all know and love.

You libs really don't get it. The Deep State is a hidden organization, except when they are out to get you. Even then they are still mostly hidden.

Well, perhaps it's you who doesn't get it.

The term "deep state" is used by people in the same way "God" is used. It's a thing you can't prove, you can't disprove. It's a great tool. So many people believe it, and that's all it is, "believing". You can blame anything on the "deep state" and no one can disprove it, and many will believe willingly without thinking.

If it's a "hidden organization", how do you know about it? You don't.

But then again, the "deep state" for me are people like the Koch brothers (or the one who is still alive. The people controlling politics with their money, but hide behind the scenes. We know who they are, but they hide it well enough that most people don't care to see it. Like Death in Terry Pratchett's Disc World novels.

Well, something says "deep state" just as people look at the Earth and say "it's flat".

For what you've described there doesn't need to be a "deep state", just politicians looking after each other with a voting system that leads to a two party system with little to no oversight.

With Proportional Representation there would be much more oversight.

The AfD in Germany was founded in 2013, by 2017 they were the country's third largest party, taking votes from the main CDU party.

In the UK UKIP got the same percentage of votes with a FPTP system, but one seat, instead of 94 for the AfD in Germany.

If you want to have proper politicians and proper oversight, you need to support Proportional Representation. There's a reason the least corrupt countries use it.

Problem is the Democrats and Republicans don't want it. I've seen right wingers call it "mob rule" as if democracy is a bad and evil thing.

Well, there are plenty of people behind the scenes. Soros and the Koch brothers (minus the dead one) are pretty big in all of this. The Koch brothers' story is one everyone interested in politics and definitely everyone who uses the term "deep state" should study in depth.

They fund a lot of things. They have changed US politics more than anyone else since Reagan got elected. There might also be others, but the people who bribed the US Supreme Court to allow political spending without care, have changed everything.

The craziness of US politics is probably down to them. It's not that they're hidden, it's that people don't care. They're wearing blinkers and they enjoy the political fighting that goes on.
