I like Cobra Kai. I like it even more because the wokers are screaming that the main characters are white. Marvin Kove who plays John Kreese is nearly 75 years old. Yes he is a karate champion. The whole show is worth it just to see the old guy.

Some people choose Karate. I don't understand why this is an issue for you. If it doesn't work for self defense, that means there are a few less people to kick your ass.

Headcase there doesn't seem to understand that there is more to karate than what he may have seen in his strip-mall. A lot of places are basically daycare/exercise for young kids, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, I've known and worked with some hard MFers over the years who could mix it up with the best of them. A long time ago, I ran into this guy at the gym in Toyohashi who ran a Nihon Kempo place in Toyokawa. The place was pretty hard core. You didn't show up there unless you were ready to take some punishment. He asked me to go there to teach some wrestling to add to what he was teaching. In 'payment' he let me jump in and spar whenever I had time. It was great. There were guys from a lot of different backgrounds, and when it came time to spar it was no holds barred. It was a lot of fun. A similar 'for real' feel to some of the sparring I did when I lived in China. Definitely not what headcase saw peeking in the window at his local strip-mall.
