White House Checking IDs of High School Students

You do in fact realize that a officer can walk up to you at any time and ask you for your identification, correct?

or if you have a flat tire and he stops to help you, he then could use "reasonable cause" to ask for your ID. So if you look hispanic don't get a flat tire when a cop is around.

Only if he has reasonable suspicion that a crime has is in process, has been committed, or is about to be committed. There must be "reasonable suspicion".
Doesn't say that in the bill. ;)
It says lawful contact. :D

One must be engaged in some activity for which the police are able to question anyone.

Read the law, moron.

Actually, all the officer has to do is make lawful contact. You don't have to be do anything.

Yes, LAWFUL contact, which prohibits racial profiling of people doing nothing which warrants LAWFUL contact.

Actually they removed the language "lawful contact" in lieu of "lawful stop".

In response to critics, Arizona tweaks new immigration law | Washington Examiner

Lawful contact encompasses "Stop and Identify" statutes that are already on the books.

I mentioned High School students because they are the ones whose ID the Secret Service is checking.

That's the fact.

No, you used them for the shock value. ;)

Think that if it give you comfort. Perhaps it will provide some consolation for the fact that you cant' provide any logical defense for your position.

And for the record, here's the AZ law for stop and identify:

13-2412. Refusing to provide truthful name when lawfully detained; classification

A. It is unlawful for a person, after being advised that the person's refusal to answer is unlawful, to fail or refuse to state the person's true full name on request of a peace officer who has lawfully detained the person based on reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing or is about to commit a crime. A person detained under this section shall state the person's true full name, but shall not be compelled to answer any other inquiry of a peace officer.

B. A person who violates this section is guilty of a class 2 misdemeanor.

Note, the police must have reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing or is about to commit a crime.

Why didn't you just go to the SS website, and use that as a link to back up your claim? How about any other group that has gone through the same security check?
And the fact you have a problem with a President taking every security messure possible to protect himself, well that says a lot about you.

You know the answer to that: they are programmed to parrot what Organizing for America and Moveon.org tell they to think.

No the law specifically states that race, skin color or ethnicity is not enough reason to ask for legal status.

READ THE BILL!!!!!!!

Why does anyone here ever post a news article? ROFLMAO!

I don't have an issue with protective measures being used for the President. I have a problem with not applying equal care to our own borders in protection of the rest of us.

....which...again....completes the circle of the question that never gets answered: what is "reasonable cause"?

No the bill does not say lawful contact, it was revised and that language was removed.

Reasonable cause must be consistent with other laws that are already in place. The police do not get to invent new definitions of reasonable cause.

Read the bill, then state what part of it you have a problem with.

So who's going to pay for all this "equal care"? You supporting a major expansion of "Big Government"?

Yer reading skills are .... interesting. The answer doesn't match the question.

What is "reasonable cause" to suspect some one is an illegal and require ID?
