Matthew Whitaker: acting attorney general said judges should be Christian

Donald Trump’s new attorney general once said that judges should be Christian and proposed blocking non-religious people from judicial appointments.

Matthew Whitaker, who was made acting attorney general on Wednesday after Trump fired Jeff Sessions, said judges needed a “biblical view of justice” and questioned the judgment of secular lawyers.

Whitaker made the remarks at a conservative forum in April 2014, where he appeared as a candidate for the Republican US Senate nomination in Iowa. Video clips of the event were saved by People For the American Way, a liberal campaign group.

Is that a constitutional stance ?

Trump is going from bat shit crazy with Sessions to drooling rubber Room with Whitaker
I wonder if whitaker has been sent in to do one specific job.

He has been sent to do all the jobs Jeff Sessions didn't do, Jeff Sessions was totally useless all he did in his time as Attorney-General was on the Weed thing and the rest asleep at the wheel.

Well he is a temp and obviously a headcase. I think he has been sent in with one objective. Possibly they had difficulty finding someone normal to do the job.

I have read about the temp situation and that according to United States Federal Law Matthew Whitaker can remain in that temp position for I think approx 260 days, of course in January President Trump can nominate someone to a permanent position of Attorney-General but under the same law that person cannot be Matthew Whitaker because he has already been the temp so the replacement would have to be someone different and Kris Kobach would be a good choice in many peoples opinion.

I do not think that The Donald find it difficult to get someone in that job I think that with Jeff Sessions out he wanted someone from the DOJ in there within hours and so Matthew Whitaker who has been Jeff Sessions Chief of Staff is the logical temp replacement.

Whitaker is a triple threat. Whitaker has crackpot legal opinions. Whitaker is ethically challenged. Whitaker is a religious nut.

This all means that he has no problem flouting the law because all things considered he is a narcissus.

Well you guys wanted Sessions gone so... be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.... :lmao:

What if Donald Trump nominates a dead brothel-owner as a judge and the obeisant GOP Senate lawmakers vote yes.
If you really want to go there, why is it a dead brothel-owner won over a liberal in Nevada? That must really be a sick liberal, to have the people vote in a dead guy over him/her/it?

Only head case is you, and your sycophant Muslim Mayor who allows Radicals into the City of London and have them run over innocent Christians there only for a good time. I know liberal and Muslims hate happy people, is this why you like your Radical Mayor?

“biblical justice”

An oxymoron if there ever was one.

Indeed, being an adherent to Judeo-Christian religious dogma doesn’t render a jurist any more ‘qualified’ than a jurist of another faith – or a jurist free from religion.
Eye for an eye doesn’t do it for you?

I think obama's wife, Michael Obama, being a transsexual has mental problems.
Who?
Michael Obama, He calls himself Michelle. Barrack calls him Michael. We have video.

I doubt they let the temp run amok.

The permanent replacement would just have to clean up the mess.

President Trump is probably just trolling the Dems and libs by naming this guy the acting AG.

What a dumb comment. Since when is Khan a radical? Based only on his religion? Why would Khan or any other mayor be responsible for an act of terrorism in his city? Who cares what religion the victims were, even if this was known? Stop making us Americans look like total idiots.

Who cares about the Obama's personal lives. We now have an admitted whore/sex attacker/conman in the Oval Office, and his side-kick is a weird sex freak. This is our current problem.

I agree with you that Sadiq Khan is not a radical----he is very much like dozens of Pakistanis with whom I have worked and socialized
over the past 50 years. He trivializes the reality of the horrors of
islam and its vile teachings and the OUTCOME of those teachings.
If I had not known so many muslims well, and had not been in mosques and had not read the Koran------I would not know just how
dangerous and destructive is the TRVIALIZING of Islamic
ambition and barbarity. "let's play nice and ignore the stench"----
no thanks lysie

the OP lied-----the fat guy DID NOT SAY judges should be Christians----he said that he likes a "BIBLICAL VIEW" ---
In Fact the USA legal system is BASED ON THE LEGAL SYSTEM OF THE BIBLE------the only trip up was his comment re "NEW TESTAMENT"----which actually does not inform our legal system
at all. . Canon law is New Testament and not even close to an
acceptable code------HOWEVER his comment is still not all that
horrendous

That;s a lie. He said judges should be people of faith. Have you no integrity at all, or are you just too stupid to understand what you read?
Are they people of faith? Do they have a biblical view of justice? Which I think is very important.”
Read the article you stupid fucker.

I read it------what's your point? He PREFERS people of faith---he does not even state WHICH FAITH-----until the end when HE IDENTIFIES himself as an NT man. ------as if anyone cared

Why would "a biblical view of justice" be needed. It's wisdom that is required, which comes in all flavors. Even if such a view could be required, which it can't be, who is qualified to say what constitutes such a view? Even if one just considers the Abrahamic faiths and disregards religions that have other scriptures, Christians of various factions fight among themselves daily, as do Jewish factions and Islamic factions. Nobody can even agree on whether it is raining.

easy----because the USA legal system IS based on the biblical
view of "JUSTICE"-------which is not particularly Christian-----
or jewish and certainly not Islamic------ON THE OTHER HAND---
it is not strikingly different from the Hindu view or the Zoroastrian
view or the view of LOTS AND LOTS of human bean cultures

thanks for your input Lysie------can you expand a bit on that which
you find AMUSING in my post. I consider the situation in London
to be very serious------and the comments of Sadiq Khan-----which were tantamount-----to ~~~ 'this is a big city, GET USED TO IT'
to be very very INAPPROPRIATE. Long long ago-----when I was young and beautiful-----there was a phenomenon called
"PAKI BASHING" in London. (circa 1960-70) If the
ARCHBISHOP of Cantebury commented----"London is a big city,
GET USED TO IT" I would not have laughed

How ironic, trying to Christanize the country and get rid of separation of church and state so it can become like Iran or Saudi Arabia.
