Matthew Whitaker: acting attorney general said judges should be Christian

Donald Trump’s new attorney general once said that judges should be Christian and proposed blocking non-religious people from judicial appointments.

Matthew Whitaker, who was made acting attorney general on Wednesday after Trump fired Jeff Sessions, said judges needed a “biblical view of justice” and questioned the judgment of secular lawyers.

Whitaker made the remarks at a conservative forum in April 2014, where he appeared as a candidate for the Republican US Senate nomination in Iowa. Video clips of the event were saved by People For the American Way, a liberal campaign group.

What if Donald Trump nominates a dead brothel-owner as a judge and the obeisant GOP Senate lawmakers vote yes.

It’s an arrogant, ignorant, bigoted, wrongheaded stance – typical of most on the Christian/social right.

Public officials are at liberty to have their ignorant, bigoted, wrongheaded views – it becomes a Constitutional matter should they seek to codify those views, or otherwise make them part of public policy.

Hard to believe our President would consider elevating him

His only credential is he opposes the Mueller investigation and is now in charge of it

Why would "a biblical view of justice" be needed. It's wisdom that is required, which comes in all flavors. Even if such a view could be required, which it can't be, who is qualified to say what constitutes such a view? Even if one just considers the Abrahamic faiths and disregards religions that have other scriptures, Christians of various factions fight among themselves daily, as do Jewish factions and Islamic factions. Nobody can even agree on whether it is raining.
It isn't.

Get a grip. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion. Just because it isn’t your opinion doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the right to express his.

That;s a lie. He said judges should be people of faith. Have you no integrity at all, or are you just too stupid to understand what you read?
So an atheist has no integrity?
The poster appears to have no integrity because he lied. As for Whitaker, he seems to be saying that he believes people who think they have to answer to a higher power are more likely to have the right values to be a judge than some one who believes he only has to answer to himself.

Are they people of faith? Do they have a biblical view of justice? Which I think is very important.”
Read the article you stupid fucker.
You lied, asshole. He never said they had to be Christians as you had claimed.

Great, another lunatic. Guy sounds like he's a step away from strapping some dynamite onto himself and rushing into a crowd of us infidel liberals. The Trump sheep will love him.
Considering what has been going on the last few weeks, it sounds like you are describing Republicans.

Tommys world.
Police appeared to punish grooming gang victims, report says

Maybe he should spend more time on the real problems the left has created in his country.
You mean like fixing the economy under Obama and rejecting voter suppression and getting some honest people into the House?

Yea, really.
Republicans can't cry Biblical Justice anymore when they publicly crawl for rich people. And want to end healthcare for millions of Americans and they think hungry children are entertaining.
