The media, for very obvious reasons, are wearing out their hyperbole-generators in trying to portray the administration's efforts at addressing illegal immigration as nightmarish outrages from a monster who makes hitler look like a candy-striper, but what is really all that new at this point? Illegal aliens with outstanding warrants for felonies are being targeted. State and local authorities are being called on to cooperate with ICE on behalf of the nation as a whole. Those who are here illegally and have committed any crime are next on the list. Kids brought here by their parents and/or in DACA proceedings are not being targeted. Hell, anyone who has been here for more than 2 years without committing a crime (yeah, I know, other than being here illegally in the first place) has little to worry about at this point. What is there in any of that to get so worked up about? The media is trying its damnedest to create fear and panic in its usual dangerously irresponsible way.

Well, it's a combination of wanting to push a political agenda and the fact that "news" has become absolutely hyper-competitive and saturated.

You have to do something to stand out from the crowd, so the temptation to go completely over-the-top (with your agenda) will be difficult to resist.

Regardless of the reality, the anxiety generated by the Media's slant is real. Just like the anxiety by people with the dreaded "pre-existing conditions," who are afraid that they will lose their health insurance coverage (even though the Republicans are doing backflips trying to figure out how to keep this from happening)
