What would happen if???.

Well then let’s crunch the numbers
Say you are paying $10 an hour and need to pay $15 to attract good workers

For a staff of four, that is an extra $160 a day in wages

Are you saying a days profit will not cover $160??

For some, yeah. I guarantee it. Even in a great economy, there are always some businesses that are right on the brink of bankruptcy. The slightest push will close them down. And of course it depends on how much the workers are willing to settle for. The higher it is, the more likely it will be that the business will no longer be viable.

But I'm with you in the hope that workers will stand up for themselves. If they do they'll likely get higher wages.

They didn’t go bankrupt when the price of supplies went up
What makes you say that?

The simple fact of the matter here is this.

You want to use a blunt object to beat businesses into submission without taking any consideration for the unique case each business struggles under.

Blanket MW laws do FAR more harm than good.

Not to those earning it

Chances are you put yourself through college by working minimum wage (most of the time off the books) by small time operations that were just trying to get away with doing business without government or union scrutiny. Big corporations like Walmart do pretty well with health benefits and good pay without unionization. The recurring socialist fantasy of "workers unite" might seem like a good idea but it never works in the real world.

If a business can’t survive without an extremely low paid workforce, they don’t deserve to survive

Ok, but that means they send all their employees home.
Or else like we have today…..the workers just stay home and tell them what they can do with their job

Instead, employers would rather close down than offer higher wages
Why do you assume it would be down to a simple choice to refuse to meet the demands or needs of the employees versus the reality that in many businesses, meeting the higher wage demands would price the product out of reach and destroy the business? The data has proven over and over that mandatory minimum wage levels cause businesses to hire fewer employees and these days, even resort to automation. Businesses are created to enrich those who spend their money and labor to create a product or a service. Private companies do not owe employees so much that the business can't survive it. That's just the reality. It's always been that way and those who think businesses owe a "living wage" to unskilled people are just delusional.
