What Is Slavery.

Nobody yet has been able to defend slavery. Slave owners were lazy for sure. They were cheapskates for sure. They did not believe in freedom. They were anti life.
. They were filthy rich just like your corporate CEO's are today who in some cases were practicing a form of economic enslavement, where the employees can't ever be empowered to pursue their dreams no matter how hard or how long they work.

I agree. MANY good things came from unions. But sending jobs overseas or importing cheap foreign workers is like union busting on steroids.
thats the only good thing...we can fix it after the unions are gone....

Just how stupid are you. Unions put an end to child labor. They gave workers safer working conditions and better pay. They were also responsible for 8 hour work days and two day weekends off. What do we have now with all the union busting that has been going on? The average American worker has to work harder and longer, receiving less pay and paying more in taxes to receive far less than the citizens of all the other developed countries.

Unfortunately, it is a fact of life. I am reminded of an old saying. "The more that things change, the more they stay the same." Even the bible promotes slavery. (And even worse) Sending our jobs to poor foreign countries is just wage slavery. An added misfortune of that is that far too often that means child labor. But all that isn't the worst of it. I will tell you what it is. Unfortunately most of you are too far gone to be anything other than accepting of it.

There are species of ant out there that evolved along with the practice of taking other ants as slaves. This has caused most of them, if not all of them, to be unable to survive without their slaves. At least one species can't even feed themselves without their slaves. So tell me, who is worst off. The masters or the slaves. At least the slaves can probably feed themselves.

Pretty much the same sort of thing is going on between the U.S. and China. The U.S. owes China anywhere from 300 billion to over 700 billion more each year. And it is quite possible that the U.S. doesn't have ANY secret military technology that China hasn't already stolen. Most of you are slaves of slaves of slaves and don't even know it. Or care.

Just how stupid are you. All of those are issues that were resolved by labor laws decades ago.

Fast forward to today. The main purpose of (especially public employee) unions today is to fleece members for dues that are turned into campaign donations to Democrats in exchange for excessive pay and benefits at the expense of taxpayers.

I did. And you, apparently, are too stupid to grok it.

Just how stupid are you. You want to bitch about what destroyed unions "might" be up to? Like it or not, the things I said about the average working American is true. Care to try and change the subject again? Or maybe you might enjoy trying to refute this. Back in the 60's, the average company executive "only" earned 20 times what the average worker made. Today it is 250 times. Maybe the government needs to bribe companies more to keep American jobs here. (I say sarcastically)

The plight of the average American today is due to Public Employee union collusion with Big Government, Big Corporatists and Big Banksters to fleece the rest of us.

If you want to see the average American's lot in life improve, more Unions are not the answer. Less Government is.

I see. Some union colluded with government and corporations to see that executives were paid more, the average worker had to get less pay, work harder, longer and pay more in taxes to receive less that what citizens in other developed countries get. Do you realize how delusional that sounds? Any REAL union would do the opposite of those things.

Next, we don't need more unions. We just need more powerful ones. And doing away with protections in the form of government regulations isn't the way to go.

No...slavery occurred when a bunch of lazy, unchristian plantation owners were too lazy to do the work themselves. So the lousy losers used fear and torture to ensure they had labor they didn't have to pay to make their profits for them. ThNkfully most, not all, but most Americans have figured out how bad of folk those plantation owners were. China is a different matter.
Yep....liberals....

There was nothing liberal about slave owners. The liberals were the people who ultimately freed them.

Abraham Lincoln was a republican.

No kidding, Holmes.

Yes, the people who freed the slaves were very much liberals.

You were wrong in post #14 and you're still wrong.

No, I'm not wrong. The liberal position during that time period was to end slavery. It was the conservative position to keep it going. You might want to recheck your history.

I already told you that even the bible promotes slavery. And even worse. That of course includes the new testament. So how can you call the southern plantation owners un-christian. And yes. China and the other foreign countries we send jobs to is a different matter. It is even worse!!! At least the Southern plantation owners had to look out for the feeding, clothing and whatever of their slaves. But with foreign wage slaves, the U.S. doesn't have to worry about it.

Try using 1/2 % of your brain power to pick up on the historical context of slavery mentioned in the bible. It doesn't promote it but gives instruction to those at the time who had slaves. A TIME when the entire world had slaves.

The fact that plantation owners referenced scriptures to keep slaves is outweighed by Christianity being one of the major forces in abolishing slavery. Those guys were just greedy.

If it was a liberal position to end slavery, why did it take a conservative republican like Abraham Lincoln to do so. Also, these days, it is the liberal democrats who are all into globalization. And it was the liberal democrat Bill Clinton who really got the ball rolling with sending our jobs to poor wage slave countries.

Your problem is that you are confusing today's definitions of conservatism and liberalism as well as today's Ideolological alignment of the Republican and Democratic parties with that of 150 years ago and you can't do that. Things have changed over time

. Your unions screwed you in the end, screwed themselves in the end, and screwed the workers in the end. They were powerful, and then lost it by fault of their own.

Many unions were also run by scum sucking gangsters. But that doesn't mean that unions didn't do some positive things for our country in the past. Look at Andrew Carnegie. He was definitely anti-union. He looked at the long hours and poor working conditions he subjected his workers to as survival of the fittest. As if he was actually doing humanity a favor. But what he was actually doing was stuffing his pockets as full of money as they could hold.

But as I said before, sending American jobs overseas is like union busting on steroids. So is letting illegal invader scab scum mexicans come into and stay in our country. So you can't call the diminished power of unions their own fault.
