What is it GOP leaders are doing that generates such strong support from their base?

We should first quantify "base" of the RNC. The upper 10 & corporate heads, and members of the middle class with the most to lose.

You missed the question however with a lazy dodge, try again. In other words, "Name some policies from the GOP leadership that has helped the Republican base".

I would say Faith Based Charities, and the New Prosperity Initiative. That is about the sum total of what Bush did for the majority of his base in eight years. Most of what he claimed to do, he lied about and never funded or put it so far out in the future it would never see sunlight.

Charity? My opinion of Charity is that it's good in a pinch, but in the long run, isn't it just "welfare" by a different name?

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.

This is why cutting education and jobs programs will be such a terrible disaster for this country. Without those, you reduce millions of Americans to "charity".

And that is exactly why this conservative donates her time to a charity that actually teaches homeless people skills to help them to help themselves. I do that for free. What do you do?

I worked every other Sunday at the Jane Addams center here in Chicago for 15 years.

Read what "conservatives" say about the homeless on this board. Or the unemployed. The right wingers on this board are not nice people.

Without funds or support? One wonders how effective a single person is without any "organization". Organization is not "socialism". Republicans have turned helping fellow Americans who need help into something dirty. It's not something that can be denied.

In other words, "Name some policies from the GOP leadership that has helped the Republican base".

The only thing I could think of was "cut taxes". But if you don't have a job, that's not a lot of help and Republicans ran on "Jobs, jobs, jobs".

So what has the leadership accomplished for the Republican base that the base can point to and say, "See"?

It's OK to go all the way back to 2000.

The people on this site that support the GOP sound as though they all have fast food jobs. A real ignorant bunch. I cannot understand their devotion.

I have to agree. It's a real mystery. They can't even seem to name a single positive thing.

I think the base is hoping that the right can stave off the left's desire to spend us into oblivion. Just a guess on my part though, deen'o

Look at the track record. They don't:eusa_whistle:

What are they doing? Inciting hate, spoon feeding rhetoric, saying no, running on jobs and then attacking the middle class......Angry white men and their stepford wives buy into that shit.

Well Obama's done such a bad job, they really don't have to come up with any solutions at all. They can just do what they did in the mid-terms: Criticize his mistakes and poor performance and get people emotional about it.
I haven't seen anything from them that would solve any of our problems at all. The Ryan Plan won't reduce the deficit by a penny. They haven't offered specifics on any other issues either. The wars? Nothing. Jobs? Nothing. Anything else? Nothing.
But they have a lot of great Bumper Sticker Rhetoric for the easily led: Restore Values! Cut Taxes! Protect families! and so on. Great stuff if you have ADHD.
The Dems? Nothing any better and something even worse: ObamCare.

You don't exactly come over as Mr Nice Guy either, rdean. Shocking I know, but it's true. You come over as someone who hates other based on nothing more than their political views. Sick shit.

You make me laugh with your classic stereotyping of others... while totally failing to realize that you actually fit the stereotype of a mindless left wing hack.

My advice.... avoid stereotyping your fellow man. Most of us are still individuals.

Sorry, they pissed away that good will after 2010. We're already sick of the cons. Next.

-Republicans ran on cutting the deficit--and runaway federal government spending. Da-Duh.

We are currently paying 29 BILLION dollars a month on the INTEREST alone on our current debt--and your party wants to raise the debt ceiling so they can BORROW and SPEND more.

The federal government is currently borrowing 46 cents on every dollar it spends.

$1 billion dollars.jpg

1 billion dollars--$100.00 bills stacked on palets--which means that they need 29 of these each and every single month just to pay the interest on the current debt.

No, they didn't, dumbass, they ran on jobs. Then proceeded to attack the middle class workers. Bunch of fucking liars.

You're incorrect. That is why we're seeing this fight in the house right now.. Government SPENDING--a skyrocketing deficit is what they ran on.

It's your guy--Obama--that has broken all of the JOB promises--and spent 1 trilion in the process--by trying to micro-manage the economy--and failed miserably doing it.

To which election are you referring? In 2010, I was very open to the GOP and their message was VERY clear: "It's about the economy, stupid. Jobs. The Economy. The GOP will fix these."

Well, they got elected and they haven't even put anything forward that I see would fix or even help with either jobs or the economy. Oh well. Neither have the Dems.

Same tactic that the Dems use. Lie your fucking ass off and rely on stupidity to do the rest.

Exactly. The Right loves to claim that giving handouts to the Poor discourages them from going and getting a job, or a better job.

If you believe that, then charity does the same, yet, they're always squawking about charity.

btw, if charity can do everything government social assistance, healthcare, etc., can do,

how come it never does?

Well, for one thing, the 'base' is obsessed with abortion. The GOP's empty promises about ending legal abortion keep those people loyal to the party.

Then YOU show me a tea party member carrying a sign that didn't have something to do with the DEFICIT and GOVERNMENT SPENDING--:clap2: They weren't out there carrying signs saying "I want a job."--

That was the NUMBER ONE issue--and that is why this country RAN all over democrats in 2010. iT is conservative belief that if we get this Federal Government under control with their spending--that consumer confidence will rise--and jobs will be created in the PRIVATE sector--and not Obama's flood the basement economic policy--where the Federal Government grows in leaps and bounds.

It is not government's job to take care of people. You lefties can't seem to get a handle on that concept.

Protect families? From what? Does make a great "bumper sticker".
