What, if anything, has OWS actually accomplished?

Epilogue...................

Does the expression not convey perfectly the level of folly?? Look at the shocked look on this asshole's face?? Is it not classic??? Laugh my balls off every time I see it!!

Not really. It's an iconic image and it's still being passed around and commented on. THANKS!

Seriously. What have they actually accomplished? Anywhere?

Anything????

Please be specific and link to your sources.

We're still talking about them, aren't we? The NAACP was founded in 1909. The major Civil Rights Acts were passed in the '60s. 'Nuff said, IMO.

NAACP accomplished more than just getting us to talk about them like the OWS.

Got a real comparison?

If you come up with a broader analysis, perhaps. Given the timeline, your comment isn't really on-point. I stick with my comparison. Sure the NAACP accomplished more, but it didn't happen overnight.

It changed to the national discussion somewhat.

Did it? Or was that the Tea Party?
It was both, really.

This is just "Look, we socialist can be angry too" as far as I can tell.

Look harder. The very fact that this thread exists suggest otherwise.

It rallied those who see the economic problems as coming from Wall Street's excesses.

While ignoring the excess of Washington and the organized crime known as Unions.

More or less true. What it really failed to do was NAME NAMES of the guilty parties.

This is NOT, I suspect entirely an accident.

That's about it far as I can see.

It will be interesting to see where it goes from here. I don't think it has done anything, and I think that the frustration of that may well lead to them becoming violent.

Them?

The OWS participants are of small consequence in and of themselves.

More importantly is their effect on the mindset of the people who would never go to a demonstration like that.

Pointing out the obvious failure of the system, and reminding folks that it was the UNHOLY alliance of the BANKSTERS and the POLITICIANS THEY OWN was, in my opinion, the positive benefit of the OWS movement.

Unlike you, apparently, I see both the TEA PARTY Movement and OWS as having a positive effect on the nation.

I understand that while the two groups might both have different solutions, they are in basic agreement that the SYSTEM needs to change.

Both are honestly manned by OUTSIDERS whose basic desire is a healthy nation.

I see both groups as fundamentally good citizens....unlike in nearly every case, the people in charge that each group respectively trusts.

But its the discussion that each brought to the national zeitgeist that I approve of in BOTH cases.
