What do you think of Romney's speaking style?

And why people think that being a cutthroat businessman will make him be a good President I just don't know. As President he can't fire Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana to leverage a buyout of California and New York.

I think a lot of people want to see the country "run" like a corporation.

Right...because it worked out so well for us in the past...({cough} George Bush and Herbert Hoover)

And for that matter, Obama. He's an even bigger corporatist than both of them and seems hell bent on dismissing rule of law in exchange for authoritarian mandate.

Just got to my office and found an email in my inbox from Ann Romney! Aww..sweet!

Friend,

Mitt and I haven't spent a whole lot of time together on the campaign trail lately, but March 21st is a very important date for us. As I mentioned last night in Illinois, today marks our 43rd year of marriage together.

And while this has been a busy year for us, it's only brought us closer together. The video below is my gift to Mitt this year and I thought I would share it with our closest friends and supporters.

So Happy Anniversary to my sweetheart!

Yes, Romney was very good for rich people.

Not so good for the working stiffs.

Again, this is a problem with an economy that is ass-backwards. The tail is wagging the dog.

The bedrock foundation of our economy is working people producing goods and services.

Investments and profits are a side-effect. But when that becomes the goal, and they way to get there is all these working folks getting less wages, less benefits, and fighting for the few scraps they throw us, that's just the path to disaster.

That's the Bourbons sitting at Versailles wondering why there's an angry mob approaching the castle.

Marxists love to wallow in class warfare bullshit. Bain Capital made the principals of Bain rich, but the main benefactors were their investors, which are primarily large institutions such as pension funds and university and charity endowments, which primarily benefit the middle class.

Don't go confusing Joe now, he's got hateful rhetoric to spew and he's determined to spew it, no matter what!

He's definitely not running the country the same way Bush or Hoover ran it.

Great comeback, Joe... For a horrible scumbag human being, that is...

Mitt Romney's work at Bain Capital was that of a turnaround specialist... They worked hard to save failing businesses. Some businesses who sought Bain's help were beyond repair Joe, and in the real world, as a matter of practicality, losses get cut. For every weeping Ampad employer you wish to propagandize there are several whose jobs and businesses were saved with the help of Bain Capital. Mitt's leadership there was a success by all reasonable measures...

No they didn't. They used other people's money to leverage buyouts. Then they looted companies to make profit. It had nothing to do with saving them..or turning them around. Some survived and some didn't. But people working for the companies Bain touched all lost benefits or their jobs.

That "corpspeak" for what I just described.

It's kinda like borrowing money from someone and calling it "profit".

Sure, sure, sure and terms like "they looted" and "vulture capitalist" are just partisan speak for "he doesn't have a D by his name so therefore I must demonize him."

He's not? Right. I forgot. He closed Guantanamo, repealed the Patriot Act, vetoed NDAA, slammed the door on the health care industry lobbyists, and restored just, transparent government to America.

Wish I lived in your world Swallow. Do the pretty birds sing every morning?

I'm interested in finding out if my opinion of the man's speaking style matches that of other USMB members.

Anyone have any thoughts? Can you describe it in 50 words or less?

Thanks.

I think he's a great speaker, just needs to slow down a little. He's speaking as fast as he's thinking.

Romney if elected can be the next Ronald Reagan. He too was a conservative yet moderate republican that attracted many democrats and independents. The republicans need to get off and stay off the crusader mentality and social issue bandwagon if they want the White House in 2012. The South may be, but the country in general just isn't there any longer. Romney is the exact perfect candidate for this election cycle. That's why the left is so terrified of him, and are constantly pushing for Santorum. In fact many Democrats voted for Santorum in states like Michigan for exactly this reason.

Thanks Valerie, truth is, Santorum scares the bejesus out of most women, and its the women, the independents, and the Hispanic community that are going to elect the next president. As they did in 2008. Neither of the candidates on the stage now except Romney can bring in the bacon. Which is why the Democrats are terrified and doing everything they can to stop Romney.

Oh, we should be very happy with the crumbs they throw us while riding by on their polo ponies... I see. Yeah, that's the ticket.

You can scream "Marxist" all day, man, but you are making the very kind of love of big government and wealth redistribution you hate.

See?

Republicans are doomed. Their best chance is to go with someone completely new and unvetted at the convention. That is the only way to stir up the base because the 4 candidates they have now aren't doing it. With everything, like this, how can we possibly lose? Cons will be turned off when Mitt moves to the center and we know he's a dishonest flip flopper. This is GREAT!

You’ve probably already heard about how the Mitt Romney campaign adviser said that Mitt’s ultra-conservative positions in the primary could just be erased in the general election: “It’s almost like an Etch A Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all over again.”

Within hours of the gaffe, both Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich were at campaign events with actual Etch A Sketches as props. Santorum warned Republican voters that if they vote for Romney, “whoever you vote for is going to be a completely new candidate.”

What a liar you are, sillybooboo...not that I'm surprised. Election time is when all the partisan liars show their true colors and I remember you from last time around...

Fact is, that is not what he meant by what he said despite all the spin to the contrary and every single presidential candidate since forever has to reorganize the focus of their campaign once the primary process is completed...

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

Romney, who scored the prized endorsement of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday, explained the Etch A Sketch remark by saying, "Organizationally, a general election campaign takes on a different profile."

"The issues I am running on will be exactly the same," he said. "I am running as a conservative Republican. I was a conservative Republican governor. I will be running as a conservative Republican nominee, at that point hopefully, for president. The policies and positions are the same."
