WELCOME UNIONS --- TO THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT- they now oppose Obama care!!! Huge!!!

The GOP has to offer more than saying 'no'. If the union members think that we will not give them the same type of plans as they have now, they will not give us their votes.

I am glad folks are considering alternatives. Unfortunately, looking at our bozos in Congress, the GOP has not offered anything nationally to attract independents and dems.

I think that the GOP has gotten the message,t they have lost their base and in order to get that base back they need to return to their fiscal conservative principles. The drug benefit for medicare angered many conservatives, that and other bills, that's why the GOP lost the house and senate. They spent way too much and porked out on it all.

If the democrats lose the Union, which is their base, they will lose easily, they won't have enough campaign money to put up a good run.

I think unions are so funny. To me, they are like junk yard dogs. Don't scratch behind their ears just right and they will bite the hand that feeds them.

They have offered alot more on this health care reform. You just don't hear about it because because it has been blocked by a democratic majority and a filibuster proof senate. They can not discuss this proposal as they are in the minority, and the speaker would just turn them away from the podium. They have fought a good hard fight to keep this health care plan from becoming a European style of socialism, but it's only because they helped to inform the public what's going on with it.

The GOP can do NOTHING to prevent this bill from becoming law, they do not have the votes.

Here you go Jake, the GOP's solution for health care reform that you did not hear about.

Health Care - GOP Solutions for America - GOP.gov

The American people have spoken. They oppose government-run health care. Republicans are on the side of the American people.

What Americans want are common-sense, responsible solutions that address the rising cost of health care and other major problems. In the national Republican address on Saturday, October 31, 2009, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) discussed Republicans’ plan for common-sense health care reform our nation can afford. Boehner’s address emphasized four common-sense reforms that will lower health care costs and expand access to quality care without a government takeover of our nation’s health care system that kills jobs, raises taxes on small businesses, or cuts Medicare for seniors:

Number one: let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines.
Number two: allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do.
Number three: give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs.
Number four: end junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.

I do have to admit that, in my opinion, neither the democrats or the republicans have offered me ANY GOOD IDEAS since sometime last century.

Seriously all they do is grow grow grow the government. The Kick Them All Out Project - Imposing our undeniable will on the government through the power of our votes!

I agree, I think we need a 3rd party. How's it going out in Massachusetts? did you happen to see the debate between Brown and Coakley?

i watched most of it but at about 40 min it was just predictable.

Things are going good.....61% of independants are going for scott brown and our state is mostly independant voters even though we have the image as being mostly democrat. we crazy

Unions have Cadillac Healthcare plans and these plans are part of the problem. They set the standard. So when those people go to the doctor, and they go a lot because it doesn't cost them anything, the doctors charge the insurance companies a FORTUNE, and the patient pays nothing.

If we can all have that kind of insurance, then that would be great.

What percentage of Americans are in unions? 12%??? And slowly but surely, their rates are going up too. This is just divide and concur.

Here is the fact. Without healthcare reform, 50% of Americans will be uninsured in 10 years because they won't be able to afford it.

Who here thinks they will still be insured in 10 years if healthcare reform is not done? Do you really want to take that chance?

There you go,write the unions off! I'm all for that.

I think I'll be insured, but it will be for major medical only. Under a government plan I expect to be totally without insurance in 6 years. What I want to know is, just what is divide and concur? It makes me laugh. I would really like to conquer my lack of understanding.

Yet it would be more than interesting if the unions, that went beyond the wall, were to pay for the Obama plan. Really, seems likely all things considered.

I think unions better wake up. Their guy was ready to hang them out to pay. In the end, it looks like Obama and company will tax income from those making $250,000 or more that comes in the form of interest, dividends and capital gains. That will not help the job situation at all.

Can'see why union members would be in favor of this Obamacare. When I was in the union we had good insurance but really expensive for co owner. With this they get shit insurance that even the Senators, Congressmen and their families don't want and have exempted themselves from!!! That must be saying something. they feel let the little people (Joe Taxpayer) pay for the best for them but give them shit!!!

Wake up Obama is going to raise taxes on everyone to pay for this disaster called Obama care!!! Everything you earn or buy will be taxed to pay for this!!! This man is a liar and fraud everything he said and promised while running for president was a lie!!!! Thank Kool-Aid drinkers!!! how do you like all this hope and change!!!!!

Do you think they'll vote GOP when the GOP wants to send all their jobs overseas?

This is just one wedge issue. Not enough to get the Unions to support the GOP. At best, this will win you over 10% of the union vote.

I just think its funny that you guys have been saying that union workers are paid too much and now you are using one of the benefits they get and trying to use it to scare them into joining your cause.

Its brilliant by the way. You guys are good. Because union workers actually do get really great healthcare benefits and no, they don't want that to change. But Ford and GM are slowly but surely asking their employees to contribute more to their plans and eventually, they won't have better healthcare than the rest of us. They'll have the same. My dad is retired from Ford and every few years they raise the amount he has to contribute.

But thats going to change eventually regardless. If the American auto companies are going to be competitive with Toyota and Honda, they can't be giving their employees such expensive healthcare insurance.

But still, you guys are really good. Because definately union workers with great healthcare are scared that obama care is going to affect them negatively.

Another idiot who doesn't understand how much the insurance companies are ripping us all off.

Yes, Obamacare will cost billions. But what we have now is costing us trillions.

You forget that.

We (I) would love to take the credit for being that good, but in reality, your guy just sucks that bad. Obama will throw ANYONE under the bus to get what he wants (not what the country wants or needs).

Unions generally support Democrats. Democrats are generally working class voters. Most of us want healthcare reform. But our union brothers and sisters don't.

Wedge issue.

The GOP are harmful to unions and labor. This is one small issue that should not get voters to switch parties, but it will con some of them to vote GOP.

Just like my pharma rep buddy voted for Bush because he thought the GOP would be better to his industry, and then he found out that the GOP are only good to the CEO's and the corporations. The employees got fucked, make less, lost jobs, etc.

Like, if I worked for an oil company, that doesn't mean I should vote GOP, even though the GOP are better for oil companies than Democrats are. They might help the guys at the top, but not labor.

Eventually, union workers will not have better insurance than the rest of us. Should they get better healthcare than the rest of us? No.

But of course no one wants to have something good taken away from them, and they fear the unknown, so again, bravo on this issue because I think it will work.

You guys spend all day telling us why we can't do things, like single payer, and when Obama sides with you and the corporations, you say he sucks? Why? He didn't fuck with your precious corporations. In fact, they're going to make more money with this new bill. All we ask is for certain things like not denying people for pre existing conditions. BFD.

Obama was very clear when he ran that he was in favor of healthcare reform, a public option, single payer, or whatever you want to call it. You're just picking one small portion of our party, the unions, because they happen to benefit from the status quo. But for how long? Every day Ford and GM make their employees take concessions so they can compete with Honda and Toyota. Eventually they'll ask them to contribute to their health plans and then they'll be in the same boat as the rest of us. If they don't, healthcare costs are going to double in the next 10 years and if that happens, Ford and GM can't compete with Toyota and Honda. So change is coming regardless.

And the healthcare bill isn't a public option/single payer/socialized medicine anyways.

So union workers don't need to worry about being forced on to government healthcare because that idea got shot down.

Its too bad too, because the government healthcare plan would be good and cheap and it would lower private insurance rates. It would force the private companies to be competitive. Instead they continue to be a monopoly.

What is wrong with your grandparents medicare? Seems pretty good to me.
