Actually I've been an active member of the LP since 1980. Prior to that I was an anarcho-capitalist since 1968.

So? Like I said SOME people have been voting their entire lives and are still clueless. What matters is that you do your research into candidates and not buy into talking points that the two main parties spew constantly. One of the main ones is this rhetoric that if we don't vote for a rep or a dem, then our vote is wasted. Well, things are difficult for the 3rd party candidates because of this mindset. If people would just do their research and vote for the BEST candidates instead of the party favorites, things could be much different and much more hopeful for our future.

That is a phase shift happening worldwide and is based on a lot of a stuff such as the AGW cult:

The comet strike of late July/early 1434 (1421 website), the @1700 San Juan subduction zone tsunami and Krakatoa can be and has been shown to have had major effects on the economy and politics of the world due to its affects on climate.

If only those who are not pleased with either Trump or Hillary would consider that their votes are NOT wasted by voting 3rd party. This is just a way to help the 3rd parties be heard and seen. It's surely not out of the question that a 3rd party candidate will have a chance to take it all in the future.

Can This Libertarian Candidate Break Into the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election?

Simply being part of the poll represents a gain in Johnson’s quest for general-election legitimacy. When I talked to him earlier this month, he lamented that he is not often included in surveys. He claimed libertarians face a vicious cycle: Mainstream media does not frequently cover libertarians because they aren’t in polls, and pollsters don’t include the party’s candidates in surveys because they aren’t getting coverage. Libertarian leaders want their candidate on the debate stage alongside major-party candidates, similar to third-party nominees of the past like Ross Perot. But to qualify, a candidate needs at least 15 percent of the vote in five national polls chosen by the Commission on Presidential Debates. When I asked the campaign Tuesday how Johnson could bump up his percentage, his communications director, Joe Hunter, noted that the “first step” is getting into polls, “which is finally happening.” More awareness and more interest around Johnson “will go a long way toward 15 percent,” Hunter said.

But Tuesday’s results do not mean Johnson will absolutely get a spot on the stage. Those debate standards are difficult to meet. They will require Johnson to make big gains in multiple polls by the time of the first debate in September—enough that the commission could be choosy about which surveys it uses and still let him in. He also needs to win his party’s nomination in a few days. Johnson, who self-identifies as socially liberal and fiscally conservative, is the presumptive nominee, but he’s got competitors. The former antivirus software mogul John McAfee and the former Fox News producer Austin Petersen are also considered front-runners, though the dearth of polling among libertarian voters makes it difficult to assess their standing.

The wasted vote lie is a false premise trotted out there by people who either have a low intellect or something to gain by preserving the two party duopoly.

At some point winning by a slim majority and seeing an increasing third party possibility requires a response from the big parties.

There is no such thing as a wasted vote. All votes are an expression of the democratic will of the voters regardless of who they vote for.

Johnson is wrong on most of the issues.

He advocates for the same sophomoric, naïve, simplistic agenda pursued by other libertarians.

A presidential candidate who holds such inane positions on the issues isn’t worthy of one’s vote.
