Seeing how popular that thread got a follow-up question arose.

"If Jesus was gay, what difference does it make?"

Does your faith in Jesus evaporate instantly if he was in fact gay?

Pleeeeeeeeeease !!!! ---------- You're getting past the point of funny and trespasssing on pathetic. Are you really that bored and find the need to get on a religion bashing high of some sort? It might be a good idea to call a friend or neighbor to sit with you awhile. I don't think you need to be alone right now.

Your reaction suggests you have a problem with a gay Saviour. So maybe you should think about that a bit.

If Jesus' ministry was about the promotion of homosexuality, then yes, it is doubtful whether faith in this teaching would have a religion (faith) spring up around it. Instead, Jesus ministry was about turning from sin to align oneself with the will of the Father here on earth as it is done in heaven. Jesus asked for faith that he was the only son of the Father. He did not ask for people to have faith that he was a homosexual or that homosexuality is an exalted state.

Another question: Can homosexuals have faith in Jesus' teachings and that he is the son of God only if they believe he was a homosexual? In other words, do you believe it is people's opinions on sex and sexuality that determines and decides faith? Do you believe that if homosexuals are convinced that Jesus was a homosexual, then homosexuals who are currently Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, etc. will come flocking to Christianity?

Or, is this more a question of, "How can we strip people of any faith? If we can convince people their God and prophets are homosexual, would that solve the problem and get rid of that ridiculous notion called faith?"

Fact: Jesus noted why people give up any form of sexuality. It is because they are born that way (perhaps Jesus' own situation); were made that way through human cause whether accidentally or deliberately (carpentry could be an accidental cause); or they gave it up for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven (Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom of heaven). In Matthew 19:12, it could be Jesus was saying, "Why am I not interested in sex? Here are the possibilities. Come to your own conclusions."

As a Jew I have a lot of faith in Jesus' teachings. As a bisexual too. Doesn't matter to me whether someone exitsed, what religion they were, what color, orientation etc. If knowledge is wise none of that matters.

Jesus message was the love God has for mankind, and how we should respond to that love. I understand this is also a major portion of the Jewish faith. So why distract people from God's love dragging human sexuality into this. Was Jesus a homosexual? That's like quoting, "Let the little children come to me" and asking, "Was Jesus a pedophile?"

All this does (to everyone's shame) is to take our eyes and ears off the message that God's love for us is infinite. Given this great news why would anyone want to turn their backs on what is awesome to wade into sex and pornography? We have a choice.

Pleeeeeeeeeease !!!!! ---- I have no problems, thank you. But, obviously, as I have read, some certainly do.

To think of Jesus as not-human is considered heresy. As a human he would have had sexual desires. So how is asking what those desires were improper? What difference would it actually make? By all accounts whatever he was, he was celibate.

Jesus is both human and divine. To forget his divinity might also be consider a heresy, true? Why is asking about Jesus' sexual desires improper? First, I wouldn't phrase it as 'improper', rather as 'inappropriate'.

Why do you consider speculating on Christ's sexual desires appropriate? For example, do you speculate on the sexual desires of every person who crosses you path? Might be interesting...but is it really appropriate to do that?

Not so much me, as those who are Christian authorities.

"The first openly gay Episcopal bishop, Gene Robinson, made controversial remarks on ABC Australia's popular "Q&A" show on Monday, noting that Jesus lived an "alternative lifestyle" while highlighting how Jesus spent time with male disciples and that he loved them.

"Jesus had a very kind of alternative lifestyle," Robinson said, hinting at a possible sexual orientation for the Savior of the world.

When asked "What did Jesus say about homosexuality?" the Episcopal bishop responded "Jesus said nothing about homosexuality."

"This is a man who remained single for virtually all his lifetime in a culture that demanded marriage. He spent most of his time with twelve men, he singled three of them out for special leadership, and one of them is known as the beloved disciple, the one whom Jesus loved," Robinson said.

But quickly he added,"I'm not saying he was gay. I'm not saying he ever had sex with anyone. I'm"

"“If Jesus is a normal human being and he’s sexual, that’s the real fear,” James Tabor, a biblical scholar at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the co-author of books about Jesus and his family, told NBC News. “You can’t think of Jesus like that because he’s too holy.”

The Bible contains no explicit mentions of Jesus being either married or not married, but few churches have room for the idea of a sexual Jesus. The Catholic Church’s celibate priesthood is built on the belief that Jesus was not married. Eastern Orthodox priests are often married, but the church teachings don’t mention a married Jesus. Protestant ministers are allowed to marry, but there again, it is not common to teach that Jesus himself was married.

Reality check on Jesus and his 'wife'

"I would say that the more conservative groups might be more inclined to be bothered by the idea of a married Jesus, and especially that he might have had a child, god forbid, since that would really raise questions about his 'divinity,' since they see him as fully human and fully God," Tabor subsequently explained in an email.

"Can God sleep with a woman and have a child? It just doesn't fit the concept they want for Jesus," he said."
