Universal Healthcare - will not work in the US

My insurance is included in my taxes. I pay NOTHING out of pocket, except an annual copay of $100 for drugs. If I'm poor, I can even apply to have that waived.

Yep, life is wonderful in Canada...dumbass.
'Free' Health Care in Canada Costs More Than It's Worth

Canada is a Democracy. If Canadian healthcare is so terrible, why don't the Canadian people choose to privatize it?

Once a system is set up like this, it is very difficult to disassemble. Even O'care, which is a limited socialized medicine scheme is like a bad penny as people start depending on the new, wasteful bureaucracy for jobs.

If the Soviet Union could be desocialized, certainly the Canadian Healthcare system can be - EXCEPT for the fact that the Canadian people are very happy with it.

People in the SU are too but the wealthy ones go to private and cash pay hospitals. Their care is 10000x better than the state hospitals.

They didn't have private healthcare in the Soviet Union - none whatsoever.

Deductible are big. And most pay thousands a year even if they don’t get sick. We have a problem. I believe everyone should have access to care. I’m open to how that happens.

Everyone has access to health care. If they don't want to pay for it, that is their problem.

Wrong again. That is OUR problem.

If you feel it's a problem now, you're in for a truly fun time.
Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Ummm, You do know your article only reinforces the data that shows Medicare for All would be cheaper than our current system.

You did read your own link, right?
Cheaper for whom? Not for me. My insurance is very good and very affordable. Get out of this thread with your noise pollution.

Cheaper for America. You know, the country you pretend to love.

Don't know, don't care, I don't live in Canada.

Then you shouldn't be part of this discussion.

This thread pertains to universal healthcare in the U.S., not in Canada. If Canada is used as an example then Canada is on the table. So...STFU.

In discussing the possibility of socialized healthcare in the U.S., comparisons with Canada and other socialized countries are VERY pertinent to this discussion.

You just don't want those comparisons made because they make the American healthcare industry look like crap!

If socialized healthcare is so terrible, why isn't there a mass immigration of Australian, English and Canadian doctors into the U.S.?

Talk about a dumb comment? "If it were cheaper, we'd be there?"

So are you intentionally ignorant of how this country works? We don't do what is best, we do what will turn the most profits for our corporate masters.

Cost is $30Trn over 10 years. LOL

How would you pay for that?

The cost of healthcare in 2017 alone was $3.5 Trillion. So if you're saying the cost for UHC is $30 Trillion over 10, then we're already saving money by making the switch.

Why Are Americans Paying More for Healthcare?.
Idiot. An additional $3trn. You’re so freaking dumb. Get out of this thread.

You're clearly confused.

You do know how to do simple math, right?

What is $3.5trillion x 10?

Is that number larger or smaller than $30Trillion?
You Dumbass it would be an additional $30trn. You’re an idiot.

Umm no. I mean, go ahead and provide a source for this, but you're just wrong.

How Much Will Medicare for All Cost?

Representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), a co-chair of the Medicare for All Caucus, released a bill today that would adopt a single-payer system, where the federal government replaces private health insurance companies as the sole provider of most health care financing. While we are not aware of any estimates of this particular proposal, similar proposals have been estimated to cost the federal government roughly $28-32 trillion over a decade.

  1. Too many people are ingrained with private insurance.
  2. Education is not free. Becoming a doctor is expensive, they want to get paid and pay off potential student loans. Working for the Gov't does not do that.
  3. Private pay provides better care. Even in Europe, the wealthy go that route.
  4. Most logical people (on both sides of the aisle) agree with #1 and #2 and #3.

Our system sucks and repubs have nothing to offer. We will likely get universal healthcare eventually. Other countries have shown it can be much cheaper.

That comment is simply stupid.

If it were cheaper...we'd be there.
There is no question it is cheaper. Our healthcare is the most expensive in the world.

It is the best in the world. I agree that our system is broken because of numerous administrator costs and such.

It is the best in the world, for those who can afford it.

Let me ask you this beggar.
How many of those counties that you speak of have a population where 1/3 is comprised of thirdworlders with illegal roots?
How many of those countries that you speak of have a citizenry where 50% do not contribute to the treasury?

Oh look, the Mr."everything that is wrong with the world can be traced back to dark skin" is here.

I challenge you...name three significant problems we have this nation that you don’t see thirdworlders sitting at the root of...I’m standing by....GO!

Typical fricken liberal, using Canada as a comparison is fine, asking why they don't privatize and suggesting they feel their system is so great that they won't privatize is bullshit.

Actually, there are a lot of doctors that emigrate from the Socialist world to settle here in America. My ophthalmologist is Canadian.

But America has a partially socialized system, its becoming more and more difficult for physicians here.

The patients are coming here for sure. When British subject Mick Jagger needed a heart operation, he came to America. He'd still be waiting to see a semi-competent surgeon in his homeland of England- if they would even operate on someone of his advanced age.

For 2018 healthcare cost $3.65 trillion. It is fair to say that at the current rate of growth healthcare costs will double over the next ten years - for an average of $5.5 trillion per year. That's a total cost of $55 trillion - about double the cost of government provided healthcare (by your numbers which are probably biased against government provided healthcare).

Or are you going to argue that healthcare costs will not go up? Seriously?
