I wasn't referring to the average price over a period of time, but when I lived in Sarasota in 2001, I remember when gas was around 97/98 cents a gallon. I don't remember how long it stayed around that price, but it did eventually go back up around 1.20,,1.30 later in 2001. I think it was a heavy surplus that brought a barrel of gas around $35.00?

I am so proud! I cannot get over how overwhelmed in utter orgasm&euphoria when I see the price of gallon at $3.40 and it costs me $875.42 to fill my tank. And I don't miss the good old days when a loaf of bread was 75 cents and my favorite cereal was 1.00 a box. Oh and I am so thankful that now I have to pay $25.00 to check in a bag on a plane, then have to pay $5.00 to stare at the beautiful stewardess's breasts after the plane reaches 50,000 feet.

You would pay lots more than that to fly is so many tax dollars were not subsidizing the airline industry.

The air carriers are not subsidized. Subsidies are offered to carriers as an incentive to fly to small unprofitable destinations.
The GOP tried to eliminate the subsidies. The Carriers would prefer to not fly to far flung small cities.
