TV. no sound

i turned it on this morning and no sound. i disconnected the cable and the static made no sound. should i get a new tv or would it be cheap to fix?

All HDTV now. If you have an older regular TV and you disconnected the cable/antenna the it is RV, howevwer you sure it is not muted or something with a remote?

RV? i turned the remote mute on and off and still no sound.

Most newer TVs mute the sound if there is no audio signal. Before concluding your TV needs work I would suggest doing other checks.
