TSA Screener Accosts 3 Year Old Child at Security Checkpoint

Some of you people are whiny bitches.

Seriously, the girl was patted down, not mauled. Was it necessary? Probably not, but it certainly wasn't abuse.

By the way, let me tell you about the time I found a shotgun and a bag of meth in a fucking crib, so don't act like no one would ever hide something on a child.

And further, some of you morons don't want to follow rules and then whine when you get caught up in extra screening, how stupid. I have a brother who flies every week for business. In the literally hundreds of flights he's taken he's been given extra scrutiny maybe 3 times. Why? Because he follows the quite easy to follow instructions and obeys the quite reasonable restrictions on what one may or may not bring onto a plane.

And again, for every incident such as this that you mention, I would imagine there are at least 100K passengers who have boarded a plane with NO incident what so ever.

This is probably going to surprise you, but this time you are right. I came across this story before I saw it here, and didn't even consider posting it. The girl sett off the detector, and needed to be searched. she was cranky because they took her bear. She screamed, like kids always do.

If you are going to fly today you need to know the rules, and follow them. I am still going to advocate changing the rules, because the rules are only designed to make people feel safe, not to keep people safe.

IF you haven't got anything to hide, what is the problem?

Why don't you just let the police walk into your house anytime they want? You obviously have nothing to hide, so you should have no problem with 3AM inspections, even if they are after a long week of hard work.
This is a good point. But if you want to come to my house, expect my rules. You don't need to fly, but if you want to go through their house, don't complain about their rules, which are harmless.

The word you are looking for here is not harmless, it is useless. That is why I complain about the rules.

Well, this may surprise you, but I am in agreement that some of the rules are stupid; but we both recognize that that's just what government does. Make stupid and useless rules. No doubt about that. The question is, would changing the rules make things better? I doubt it. And outside of a few rogue agents acting like jackasses, the TSA is pretty unobtrusive as long as you DO follow the rules. Yes, it's a pain to have to remove your shoes, but is it really worth getting worked up over, just for example?

The TRUTH is that if the PC crowd in this country would shut up and allow the TSA to do what needs to be done, namely profile men who appear to be of Middle Eastern origin, things would be a lot easier on all of us; but they won't so the TSA can't. So the white family from Kansas must get the same scrutiny as the brown single male from Tehran. It's just that simple.

what do you say about the fact that over 12 american born / non-arab people have been successfully recruited and trained by al qaeda, and that they are now living in american again

Unlike your stupid war on drugs.... The home front division of The War on Terror has been shy on lip service and long on effectiveness. I have been anti authority practically my whole life but I have to hand it to theses guys for "gettin'r done". Your suggestion that we do not profile is rediculous. I am certain we do. We just don't wait to do it at the boarding gate.

I think it should be obvious to everyone that the real story here is the racism of that little girl. Look at her throwing a temper tantrum because a black person is touching her!

"they" don't know the names of the people trained, just that the training happened and that the people got back into usa. the point was that these people would go completely undetected by conhogs foolish methods

This is very indicative of our government and TSA. For crying out loud they have infants on the no fly list.

Quit being a big government suck up.
You just showed that you don't understand what "sucking up" means. Unless you think the government is reading this and I will somehow benefit from it. No, let's face it: you didn't like what I said, have no actual way to prove me wrong, and so resorted to childish name calling. Let me know when you want to use your big-boy words next time to actually address the issue.

If this little girl's parents had stood up to defend her, they would be in Prison Cells right now. People really should think abut that before mindlessly cheerleading for this absurdity. I'm pretty sure 3yr. old little girl "Terrorists" are not a threat to our way of life. The TSA is broken. You're all Terrorists now. How does that make you feel? Happy travels.
Except they didn't. Her mom didn't even look distressed. She didn't even stand by idly. All of these things would have showed her dislike for the events without getting them in trouble. What DID happen is that her mom actually helped the security guard. Now it's great that you took it upon yourself to completely reduce the actual reaction of a reasonable person into your immature outlook, but that's NOT what happened.

You claim she was aggressively mauled when that wasn't the case.
You claim it was Nazi-like without an ounce of support.
You claim the girl was wronged when not even her mother reacts accordingly.
You claimed everyone is a terrorist for not agreeing with you.
You've basically failed at every immature point you've tried to make in this thread. Time to give it a rest. We don't need more over-dramatic misrepresentation.

Are you one of the people who believes gently patting down this girl is a horrible abuse by the government, while also suggesting we should imprison people for treason even though they broke no laws?

They weren't nearly this invasive in 2002. We were still wearing our shoes, bringing our bottles of water through, and not being virtually stripped searched or molested by the Gestapo.
Oh you're upset because someone molested you when you were younger. This all makes sense now!

Your sarcasm only tells us all that you know I'm right.

No people like me actually cherish the liberties and freedoms "guaranteed" to us by the Constitution, no thanks to people like yourself who'd rather be herded like a unit of cattle.

You still have those liberties. You can purchase your own airplane and fly out of your private airport and not worry about any of these things you don't like. But if you want me to give you a ride in MY car, you won't be eating in it. As I said before: I'm not going to your house and making demands. You're in my house. You follow my rules. Those "liberties" you cherish don't apply in the private domain. If you want to curse like a lunatic despite freedom of speech in my house, or to your boss, or loudly in a restaurant, don't be surprised if you are asked to leave. And don't whine about your "liberties and freedoms" when your ass hits the pavement.

This isn't the private sector implementing these restrictions; it's the government. Your argument is invalid.

Timothy McVeigh was not a religious extremist who tried to hijack airliners and crash them into building. American families don't strap bombs to their three year old children to try and blow people up like Palestinians. Your argument is invalid.

Oh so it doesn't count because other white terrorists haven't hijacked planes, and because you don't think they're Palestinian. What makes you think they aren't Palestinian?

But regardless of these, you still seem to overlook the fact that the rules are applying to everyone equally, and are not left to the personal prejudices of guards to make biased decisions based on skin color. If terrorists know that light skinned families never get checked in airports, guess what any terrorist plan will involve. This isn't rocket science here, nor is removing metal.

Out of control, political correctness IS exactly why we're not doing exactly what Israel does to keep their planes safe. Israel objectively profiles every passenger for risk, and doesn't randomly single out little boys or elderly women for professional crotch rubbings, "nude radiation showers," or breast twistings and fondlings ...looking for hidden charges of C-4.

No, they actually look for terrorists and have a 100% success rate without the shoe-removal and shampoo bottle disposal theatrics.

Israel also doesn't assault their airline passengers with indiscriminate, dignity robbing, concentration camp style "security measures."

So, why are we?

If this little girl's parents had stood up to defend her, they would be in Prison Cells right now. .

I doubt that. They would have just been escorted out of the airport and not be allowed to fly that day. That's what's been happening to everyone else who has stood up for themselves so far. More and more people are starting to do it. Here is the latest from San Diego and this guy managed to secretly record it all with his cell phone.

Nobody has been imprisoned for refusing the scanners or pat downs as far as a I know. They're probably on a secret watch list now, though.

That doesn't change the argument whatsoever. Whether you come into my house, a small business, a major corporation, or a government establishment, you are playing by house rules. This is the government in the private sector, much as there are government restrictions in hospitals, pharmacies, and restaurants. Somehow you think that just because the government is involved in the private sector that it no longer counts as the private sector? You're not in your house. Simple as that. If you don't like the rules, go buy your own plane.

That's a good point, but you're confusing standardization as political correctness. If you set off the metal detector because you are incapable of removing metal objects, then you will be patted down. Anyone. That removes bias, not counteracts it with overly sensitive opposite behavior. It means the police are pulling over EVERYONE above the speed limit. Because I ASSURE you that if someone sets off the metal detectors in Israel, including that 3 year old girl, they will be further examined. You're delusional if you think otherwise.

It amazes me the people that out of one side of thier mouth want all the advantages of being an American including "exceptionalism" yet feel no responsibility to accept the reality it creates. They squeal like little girls out of the other side of their pie holes as the most effective team of anti-terrist proffessionals do thier thankless job almost to perfection.

Metal detectors in Isreal for 3 year old girls, long lines, screening of everyone including old ladies before they enter the terminals?
Not in Isreal. They PROFILE ALL in Isreal, they show bias against all Arabs and eastern Europeans and know the flight information for each passenger before the people pass the security checkpoints. Nothing like what we do here.
They do it nothing like we do it here in Isreal. In Isreal EACH flight has their own check point. They do show bias in Isreal.
Here we check everyone for weapons only. In Isreal they look for TERRORISTS first and foremost and detain all that look like one. I know as I have a former Mossad agent working part time for my agency.
