Trump continues to tell GOP voters to reject mail-in voting.

The funny thing is that mail on voting used to be a predominantly Republican thing

Before Trump

I mean… they know. They did it

In multiple elections in recent years, we have routinely seen the Republicans get crushed in early voting and failing to make up the deficit on Election Day. While Democrats have generally had an advantage in early voter turnout, the difference has never been this staggering until the last few elections. Despite mailing his own vote in, Trump has continuously alarmed his base with tales of early voting fraud and chicanery, which is practically untrue. The result is that Republicans have become paranoid to mail in their ballots, but not all show up on Election Day, so they are losing prospective votes.

Elections are a mess. The greatest political revolution in our election history has been the change—accelerated under the cover of COVID and the George Floyd riots—in many key states from a 20-30 percent “absentee ballot” vote to 70-80 percent early/mail-in balloting. In a mere four years we have all but destroyed Election Day voting and Election Night final tabulations as we had known them for decades.

All discussions of voter IDs, fraud, and charges and countercharges of election denialism are irrelevant if there is no real mechanism to validate the authenticity of mail-in ballots that have incomplete or false addresses, names, and signatures, or do not match registration rolls. Third-party ballot harvesting and ballot curing should be outlawed at the federal level, and we should return to the requirement of requesting absentee ballots rather than automatically sending them out. Otherwise, no future election will again win the confidence of a majority of Americans. And without trust in balloting, consensual government becomes nonexistent.

Truth be known, the Republicans don't like mail-ins for multiple reasons.

1. Some control is lost.
2. Opens the door to ballot harvesting and solicitations.
3. Primarily, the lazier you are the more likely you're to submit a mail-in ballot, and the laziest among us generally lean Democrat.

Los Angeles County is trying something interesting.

Every ballot is a paper ballot. The vote still goes into a Smartmatic computer, but there is a paper trail at the point of origin.

It works, only one Republican has won a state-wide election since Gordon Smith won a senate seat in 1996 ...

Those cheapskate elections offices around the country use a Chinese printer for ballots? ... the Chinese sell the extra on the internet ... order as many as you want, mailing is 50¢ a vote, $10,000 buys a state legislator ...
Why are you spreading such idiotic lies?

But put them in an envelope, and clearly it's fraud.

These Are paranoid delusions seeded in your brain by liars who know they are lying.

Lara Trump and the RNC have officially cancelled their program to encourage Republicans to vote early or by mail. They've also cancelled their minority outreach programs. And they've decided to focus on "election integrity."

And there was much rejoicing on the Democratic side.

Republicans aren't even trying to win over new voters, even after old people dying and COVID thinning their herd has decreased their numbers. They're relying entirely on trying to throw out Democratic votes. They're trying to redo their failed 2020 strategy. That makes it very difficult for Republicans to win.

Five of the swing states (AZ, PA, WI, MI, NC) have Democratic governors. The Republican governors in Georgia and Nevada aren't MAGA kooks, so they won't help Trump steal it. The vote suppression will go nowhere. The lawsuits will fail even more quickly this time around, since the precedent has already been set.

We'll see the same big lies, and the same Republican loss. Republicans often have passed laws that forbid counting the early votes early. When midnight rolls around, they'll declare that any uncounted votes -- the largely Democratic votes -- those have to be fraudulent, and thus Trump wins!

The dumber than dogcrap crowd will fall for it (look at this thread), but no one else will. The votes will eventually be counted, and Democrats will score a big win. Sore-loser Republicans will again invent sore-loser conspiracy theories, and some of them will get violent again.
