These are 7 year old girls for crying out loud!

Some girls are not capable at seventeen.

True => Why parents are allowed to make decisions for them before they are adults.

If the parents of 7 year olds are comfortable having their daughters prance around like pole dancers, then who are we to argue. If someone wanted me to wrap my daughter up in a burka before she left the house, I'd thellem to fuck-off and mind their own business.

Then I suppose you respect the rights of the parents more than you do those of the child.

What think you of parents that clip the clit off their young daughters so they will never enjoy sex? Should that practice go unchallenged by you just because it doesn't affect your family?

If you concur that the combined dance routine, music and costumes sexualized the seven year olds, why do you condone it for others but not for your own?

I don't tell others what to do with their kids, unless its clearly abusive. If these girls were being forced to dance nude, then it would be porn. There's no law against "sexualization," whatever the hell that means (any girl without a burka?)
If you think it bad for your seven year old daughter, you should think it bad for the five in the video. Your child is no more deserving of protection from exploitation than those girls.

I see.

Could you please give me a list of things I "should think it is bad for" other peoples' kids to be doing?

I don't want to get all pissed off if I see a kid Chewing Hard Candy, and then find out that was acceptable on Planet Asaratis.

It's a free country. But then I don't want to hear those same parents complaining if they end up with a teenage daughter with anorexia, or who turns up pregnant or worse. After all, it's all about displaying and using their bodies in a sexual way specifically to please other people and get their approval. That's what's worth working for and what gets them rewarded, right?

Not all girls who get roped into this stuff will go that route of course, but no thanks anyway.

It is a game---a competition. I highly doubt that the girls are taught that certain movements are sexual. They are seeking the approval of judges which in this case are most likely ALL WOMEN. Simply put-----do this---the judges will give you high points--you will win if you do it better than the other girls. It's one way you can become a winner.

Having been circumsized, I'm probably not the most objective resource regarding the subject, so I'll differ to the authorities to decide when parents step over the line.

I agree. If in the training...one could hear the instructor screaming "Shake That Ass!!!" there certainly would be much cause for concern..even liability ..possibly criminal proceedings. I doubt any parent would tolorate such language or intent.

Do you honestly think these girls are old enough to realize it's all just a game? Or at seven are they doing it to please their parents, the judges, whatever adults care about and for them? And learning this is what they need to do to please. That takes me back to my whole problem with it - the age and development level. It would be fine for an older child, but it's not age appropriate.

We are not discussing trivial matters here. We are discussing the sexualizing of 7 year old girls.

You ad hominy is noted.

There is already a question from the list on the table. Another item on the list is the exploitation by knowing adults of the girls in that video. You should protest that and genital mutilation.

I think that walking around in public in a black tent with only your eyes visible should be outlawed. I think concealing bombs on your person should be discouraged by parents. By your way of thinking, neither one of these would bother you as long as it wasn't your daughter carrying the bomb.

Yes--I do think that they realize that it's a game. I bet they don't sake their booty in school to get a good grade. Pleasing other people in society is not a bad thing in itself. Unfortunately it's what has to be done over and over to get by in society.

You should defer to noone. This is a question regarding your opinion. I did not ask about male circumcision. That removes only some insensitive skin. The sensitive area is still there to cause orgasm. Just imagine if they had cut off half of your penis and left you with nothing but a short hose to pee through. How much fun would sex be to you then? Do you think you would have wanted to have any children?

Are you comfortable (condone...don't care) with other parents mutilating the daughter's genitals?

OK, so I should "protest" girls that dance, and genital mutilation. Gotchya.

What if I see an 8 year old, dancing in the waves on the beach in a bikini?

What if I see a 10 year old licking an icecream cone?

What if I see a 6 year old sitting on the lap of an elderly man dressed in a red snow suit?

I'll answer the question, if you start another thread about it: Here, I see it as only derailing the topic.

I'm not arguing with that in the larger sense, but I'm looking at it from a different point of view. With school it's their minds they're competing with for the most part, and their minds they use to please other people. That's something positive and useful to be encouraged. With sports they're using their bodies, but there are clear rules and goals and with the team sports an emphasis on working together. Learning to follow rules, work together and work toward goals are positive things. With dance it can be that way, or it can be what I see in this video - which is that dressing up their bodies to look sexy and acting suggestive is how they win and get approval. Too many girls already get lost in the message that all they're good for is sexual attraction, I just don't approve of reinforcing that at an age where they're still so earnest about learning how to please.

It was a yes/no question...meant to establish some understanding of just where you draw the line on being disgusted with what parents do to their children. That's what this thread is about.

You have stated you wouldn't condemn parents of seven year olds for letting their daughters dance provocatively even though you would not let yours do so; you would not condemn them for letting their children eat hard rock candy (I'm guessing you do not let yours do so.); you wouldn't condemn them for making their daughters wear burkas, but you won't be forced to make yours do so.

Do you condemn parents that practice female genital mutilation on their daughters?

(I'm just trying to see where you draw the line.)

Preachers daughters----promiscuous as hell.
I guess I'd have to see some research showing that girls making movements that look sexual to some adults affects them one way or another. All I can do is speculate and my voices tell me that other things in their lives will have a far greater impact on how they interact with men as they age.

For some it probably will. But I wasn't as concerned about their interactions with men - that's a symptom, not a cause. I'm more concerned about what they learn to value about themselves.

Well if they start wearing thier dance outfits to church i'm going to start worrying about em.
Other than that I prefer to believe they will get the full spectrum of learning at the appropriate time. In fact, I hope that happens to me too.

Strawman is one of your most often used techniques.

heh....it would take someone who compares "Genital Mutilation" to "Sexualization" to be an expert strawman manufacturer.

I'll agree with that last part wholeheartedly.

As for the girls, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
