I dunno. I think the gop has two things going on, both of which concern traditional gop base.

1. On wedge issued (including immigration) we have a portion of the party that prevents us from competing for 270 EVs. And, that's pretty crazy, simply because there's no rational reason to dislike undocumented, illegal workers who have been here for decades ... aside from the fact that they broke the law ... as if none of us have smoked pot, cheated on taxes or done something we know was illegal but figured it didn't really harm another. And then there's the "gay thing." I think the libertarian wing, and the chamber of commerce, see this clearly, but the tea party and the Koch funding seems to run grass roots.

2. There's simply an irrational view of Obama. In truth, he's an elitist corporate shill. Yet, there's this irrational view that he's some subversive muslim Kenyan socialist or something.

Dont expect to be warmly welcomed or for your point to even be addressed.

You are correct. It is a blog based on a book. That said there is some pretty good evidence that what appears in the book is true. I am referring to some republican governors pushing voter ID's despite proof that voter fraud is almost non-existant. The reason for the ID's is to restrict the vote of the minorities. In other words the old white guys are trying to hold onto power as the number of minorities grows. A second example that lends further support to the book and blog is the gop increasing use of gerrymandering. Several republican governors have used gerrymandering to establish voting areas where white voter dominate and have the greatest chance of securing seats in the government. Texas probably leads the nation.
The bottom line, for me, is that the number of minorities continues to grow and gain power while the old white men find themselves in a shrinking party. I have already seen predictions about Hispanics becoming the majority in both Texas and Arizona.
