The Peace through Strength argument

I learned something today. I was always under the impression that Ronald Reagan was the President who started the "Peace through Strength" idea. Perhaps I was just naive about it but i never learned any President advocating it before then. But I was wrong:

"To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace."

Fascinating. The more I learn the more I realize there is so much more to learn.

True as that is, it still doesn't call for military occupation in countries where the war has been over for decades on end.

America's first war on terror lasted quite a while. through several administrations.
