The Koch brothers buy the best seats in the House

House race in West Virginia's 3rd District. Another politician who will be on a billionaire's lease.

Rahall addresses poll, PAC spending | The Herald-Dispatch
...

Rahall has been viewed as vulnerable as of late, and conservative groups have poured $1.4 million into anti-Rahall ads as of late 2013, a considerable amount for a state like West Virginia.

"What is getting disconcerting is the amount of billionaire money that is coming into a state like West Virginia and trying to buy a congressman," Rahall said. "Really, it's happening across the country. In my opinion, this is a hijacking of democracy. Yes, it's legal under the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling in 2010 ... but I think it ought to at least be disclosed who is paying for this."

...

$1.4 million. Number look familiar?

Congressman Rahall is "vulnerable" because he voted for ObamaCare. If he'd had the good sense not to...then he wouldn't BE vulnerable and that money wouldn't be pouring into West Virginia in an attempt to unseat him.

If you support stupid legislation as an elected representative then you shouldn't be shocked that people want to see you GONE!

my gawd, you have to wonder how it feels to be a USELFUL tool for a party

the op is the perfect example

it's so sad

One batch of ads, one, on one Senate race in Arkansas set to run less than a month: $700,000. The ads are anti-Pryor, not pro-Cotton, so none of that $1.4 million spent to date by the Koch brothers shows up on Cotton's books. So when it is said one candidate outspent another the Koch brother's dark money is never included.

Does anyone believe for one second that the Koch brothers care about what happens to the people of Arkansas? If there ever is a Senator Cotton he will know who got him there and who will keep him there. If there are two ringing phones on his desk, one labeled "Arkansas", one labeled "Koch brothers", guess which one Cotton will answer and which he will let the other go to voice mail. And if there is any question about Cotton's vote in Arkansas the Koch brothers will just buy him another 3 weeks of 30 second ads to explain it all. You know I got my free lunch in a small school in North Arkansas. There are still kids up there get some food thanks to programs Koch brothers would kill if they ever got the chance. The Koch brothers are putting and keeping people in the federal government for their own sick agenda. This country deserves better than people like Cotton who are perfectly willing to wear the diamond studded Koch collar offered them in return a seat in the U.S. Congress.

Americans for Prosperity is launching a major ad buy hitting Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) on Thursday, pushing the group’s advertising spending in the race to more than $1.4 million so far this year.

...

The 30-second spot from the Koch brothers-backed group is set to air statewide on cable and networks, along with digital advertising, for three weeks. Text at the end reads, “Senator Mark Pryor voted for Obamacare. Tell Sen. Pryor, Obamacare hurts Arkansas families.”

...

Pryor, who is facing off with Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) in one of the most hotly contested races of the year, was the subject of a six-figure negative ad buy last month from the outside conservative group. The buy for second batch of ads, shared first with POLITICO, totals about $700,000 and links Pryor to cancelled insurance plans tied to Obamacare.

I don't know what is funnier. The sheeple that follow the obvious Koch brother train or the people that say, "I'm not going to accept the premise of your question" to avoid brainy questions.

So, what "brainy question" were you planning to ask?

I don't know whats funnier, people who want others to answer "brainy questions" but lack the mental fortitude to ask them, or the fact they can't answer "brainy questions" themselves.

The Government writes all the rules and regulations so that they have complete control over every aspect of life, from birth to death, nothing is untouched by thousands and thousands and thousands of rules and regulations.

Corporations only exist because the Government created them.

So you do not like the Koch brothers, neither do I.

There is a simple solution, its time to eliminate all the rules and regulations and taxes as well as take away all the power Politicians have that created the Koch Brothers.

Oh, wait, Democrat/Liberal/Leftist scream bloody murder if Conservatives attempt to eliminate even one law.

Koch Bros. political spending is a drop in the bucket compared to Soros.

The phoney outrage displayed by the progressives over millionaires is transparent. If they were spending money trying to get Dems elected we wouldn't hear a peep from you.

:eusa_boohoo:

Politico has become another DNC mouthpiece

they shouldn't be taken serious anymore

Americans for Prosperity is a mainstream, pro-America group dedicated to lower taxes, responsible government, and a balanced budget. They oppose government-run healthcare and job-killing regulations. I think Charles and David Koch are two of the greatest Americans.....they produce the energy, raw materials, and chemicals we all use in everyday life. Charles and David Koch go to bat for free enterprise. Leftists like Soros go to bat for socialism.

good grief, they never worry about UNIONS having bought and paid for a seat in our government though the democrat party, Warren Buffet has the Democrats hearts in his lap, all the commies in Hollyweird bows to the Democrats and throws millions to them and the filthy rich who has paid for the democrat party just goes on and on and on

Those unions and people like Soros that you rethugs hate. You know why Dems support them? Because things like "unions" want to see the working man make more money.

People like the ones you support (Koch Brothers) only want to see THEMSELVES make more money.

I know you are to fucking blind to see the difference, but there it is.

Repeat; Unions good for the working man. Koch Brothers good for the 1%.

And I know there are a bunch of right winger 1% wannabees on here. But you ain't gonna make it.

Unions did a lot of good for me and my family growing up.

Charles and David Koch never did one fucking thing for my family.

Same for Soros. Never did a thing for me except support unions. But at least he tried. Well that and offer one billion dollars to the person who gets every game correct in the NCAA tournament match ups.

The best thing David Koch ever did was fund a program on PBS. And he did that to give himself the look of someone a little progressive.

It took you 25 years to convince this man that the union wages he was bringing home were a bad thing for him eh? Wtf took you so long?

You got to like the hypocrite that admits they have been enjoying the wages paid to a union worker all the while complaining about unions.

What do you call that type of person in right winger land? A PATRIOT? LMAO.

Never said that they didn't have that right. Just saying that believing that the Koch Brothers are looking out for the interest of the working man and not the interest of the 1%, is not in your best interest.

Just because the Koch are selling "freedom" and "capitalism" does not mean they are looking out for your interests. They are looking out for themselves.

Unfortunately today the unions representing manufacturing has declined significantly Along with the manufacturing jobs themselves. Leaving us with public sector unions. And lets face it, those unions are not engaged in the building of products and wealth. They serve a purpose, but not the SAME purpose as the manufacturing and trades unions.

But knowing you are a kid, let me share something with you. Hundreds of thousands of people such as myself, grew up in union towns and cities. And because of those unions, people like me enjoyed a much higher standard of living BECAUSE of the unions.

And we lived in cities or towns where the entire cities and towns standard of living grew.
Because of unions.

I know that this is a hard concept for you to understand, but when you grew up with a positive opinion and experience of unions, you do not change your opinion because some right wingers think unions are bad bad bad.

Unions look out and function for the working man. Of which I am one. You right wingers don't like them BECAUSE by pooling the resources of the members, they (unions) are able to compete in the political arena against the likes of a Koch Brother agenda.

Heaven forbid that the working man be represented in the political arena. Right?

Which message do you hear the Koch brothers saying:
1) One should do whatever they have to to get ahead.
2) Obamacare is bad for America.

Somewhat ironically the Koch brothers have spent $1.4 million on the Arkansas Senate race and $1.4 on the 3nd district of West Virginia on the second message and have made no mentioned of the first. When their Senators and Representatives get elected do think they are even going to remember what Obamacare is? Or care about those who cast their votes to get their people elected? You think the Koch brothers think building an education/industrial park in the Ozarks or a funding a natural environment restoration project on the New River Gorge is a good idea? I do because I like America more than I like the Koch brothers.

Look, unions are great in the short run for the worker. But look at the long run: Chrysler/GM/Ford had to lay off thousands of workers because of the companies not doing as well as foreign companies. Meanwhile, outside of Michigan, in states like Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia, the non-unionized auto industry (Hyundai, Volkswagen, Toyota, Mercedes, etc.) is booming. I happen to think 2,000 $20/hour jobs are better than 500 $40/hour jobs and the rest being either unemployed or flipping burgers.

Look, unions would be great if there were no market forces and money grew on trees. But those things aren't true and businesses have to make a profit to survive. Unions ultimately lead to companies hurting and losing jobs. Hence why only public sector unions still survive.
