The study is the first to survey all the world's icecaps and glaciers and was made possible by the use of satellite data. Yeah, that's kind of a major swing isn't it. Just a couple of years ago the Himalaya were going to be ice free in 25 years, now they aren't losing any ice at all. That IPCC sure does suck major wind doesn't it?

According to the photo study by the USGS, the Himalayas are losing ice area. According to the GRACE study, the mass of the ice is in near steady state for the last ten years. So, are the higher glaciers gaining ice, and the lower ones losing it? More study will resolve the issues, and we will have more information concerning that vitally important area in the water supply of the Asian peoples.

Ray.....but that sentiment is shared by only a few. A huge majority of people have concluded that fucked up weather events have been happening since weather began.........and they would be correct. For example and as I have previously demonstrated recently in another thread.........epic levels of flooding are nothing new. My link demonstrated going back well into the mid 1800's that flooding is a common catostrophic occurrence all over the world. Even did a quick google search and came up with the history of flooding in Pennsylvania with fucked up flooding happening going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back to the early 1800's. No......the intensity and freqnency of fucked up weather events is going have to change SIGNIFICANTLY to have any impact on people. What I mean by that is something dramatic.........not these typical weather events people have been seeing on and off for their whole lives. And the operational definition of "dramatic" is going to take something like Nome Alaska spending 8 weeks above 40 degrees in mid-winter. Otherwise, nobody is going to care a hoot.

INdeed........the numbers compiled by the Pew Poll indicate that there is a very clear minority who are moved by all this "weather disaster" stuff.........not to mention, even if they were moved by it, they know there isnt shit we can do about it anyway!!
