When you admit that the economy is doing well but it’s a “perception problem” you are pointing out that it’s about propaganda.

No dum dum it's an understanding that good GDP numbers or the stock market is doing well doesnt equate to the economy doing well for everyone. It's apparent that it's not given the polls concerning this issue. 70% of the country is pissed about that state of the economy because Fox or someone on Twitter told them to be.

Republicans are invested in making people FEEL that the economy is doing poorly.

But Democrats arent invested in making them "feel" its doing well?

Just as they did in the Obama Admin.

And the Democrats did during the Trump admin.

Trump got elected on 2016 and little changed economically but the “perception” reversed . All of a sudden it was Unicorns and flowers even though little had changed

And little has changed due to this admin. But the President gets the credit AND the blame for the economy regardless of whether he did or even can do anything to really affect it.

One positive note in the face of the Ford and GM layoffs....

Industrial construction has actually increased this past year 71%. Meaning that soon we will be manufacturing some items again.
However, with skilled labor being MIA most of these MFG jobs will be button pushers so the robot can build the widgets. Meaning low skill, low wage jobs. But it's better than "Would you like fries with that?"

My contention is that propaganda is far less dominant in the present climate than you're positing.

When you stop blaming propaganda and start focusing on the negative results being cited you may yet attain understanding.

Dumb money (private investors) have poured money into the market upon Powell's claim to cut interest rates soon next year.
Smart money has done nothing (can't actually as they are usually too big to do much except for pocket change) . However they have begun selling options to assist with the losses coming.

Money Markets are full on in FOMO mode right now pouring cash into the market....and will soon dip out. (Smaller and lighter and less concerned with the same high margins)

Smart money is already positioned or is using this breather to fully change positions for the coming recession (They stayed awake in Economics classes)

So....when you see the dip or little dips in the market....dump and RUN. All over but the crying then. Last one out is left holding the bag....and it's empty.
