My wife and I have always kept two dogs. We lost the companion to Athena (the Dingo) two years ago. My wife was heartbroken.

This was our Aphrodite.

Athena really liked being an only dog, so we didn't get a second one. But Athena is almost 8 and starting to slow down, so we figured we better get a puppy now, while she is still young enough to train the puppy.

It seems like we searched for months. Actually, we did. My wife and I are big believers in rescue organizations, so we only looked with rescue groups. We were not too concerned with breed, other than I don't care much for small dogs. Medium or big is fine. This was one of 6 puppies who, along with the mother, were abandoned. We got the alert, my wife went to meet the puppies, and this is the one she picked.

The puppy will just be a house pet and a companion for the Dingo. At 6 months she will be spayed.
