Where is this instruction? In that Numbers passage in which no one is required to consume an abortifacient?

The stock you are placing in the Scriptures is commendable, strollingbones, and you are doing what many of your fellow Bible readers do: you're making inferences. Except that no one has inferred abortion from this passage until recent decades, as the liberal church has grown.

If a woman were to consume this concoction and miscarry (though the passage makes no such claim), would she be free repeat the ordeal? To abort another fetus? A dead woman would have some difficulty with that, I would think.

A bloated belly and infected private parts (rotting thighs) do not describe an abortion.

Idolatry, the Israelites' sin, led to their exile, and naturally, they adopted some of the customs of their pagan oppressors - the Syrians, the Chaldeans, the Babylonians - such as idol worship and even the worship of pagan gods (such as Baal of Peon, early on).

Their Messiah, however, delivered them once and for all from exile. Contrary to what strollingbones implied in the OP, Christians do not extol abortion.
