The Best Restaurant.....

I am jealous. I suppose Syrenn is not a big fan of it, but I have had some decent experiences there. The steak au poivre is solid, IMHO. Of course I have only eaten there twice. Avoid the creme brule though....quite disappointing.

Now why would you say i am not a fan of it?

It was alright, middle of the road for vagas restaurants... run of the mill, nothing impressive ....to me. What impresses me and what impresses most are two different things. I loved the mashed cauliflower. And i will agree.... avoid the desserts....but that is me, dessert has a high bar to measure up to . ...most will love them.

Dessert has a high bar for me also.
Me ex-wife used her culinary degree to focus on dessert.
I love key lime pie and know good cheesecake.

Then don't order dessert..... its just alright. You will be happier getting ice cream or gelato in the shop portion of the casinos....

So what are you looking for? .. fine dining, casual, buffets?

If you are looking for family style Italian... not expensive and lots of it, give Battista's a try. Its just down half a block off the strip behind Harrass across from Ballies and before you get to the Sheraton... on Flamingo.

Its more of a locals place believe it or not. The Ecuadorian guy is old and hysterical! Its endless cheep house wine, and something at the end called a "Homemade Cappuccino" that is more like hot chocolate. Make reservations...its always crowded

Crap. I've got to make reservations?
I generally just wing it in Vegas.
We've got reservations at Top Of The World, but that's because there is going to be over 20 of us for that meal.

Oh you can wing it... and walk in. But there will be a line depending on what time you show up. :)

Try hash house a go go..... there is a few of them. One is in the imperial palace, in a few other casinos and one off strip.... :)

:)

Can you recommend a good Thai and Indian place?

Speaking of Bally's that was the scene of my legendary Texas Hold 'Em night. Started at about 6:00 PM on a Saturday with a $150 buy in and left the table at around 9:00 AM the next morning with several thousand.

I had one other great streak playing roulette at the Hilton a few years later where the pit boss said it was the best run he had seen in five years. I made a lot of money that day. Paid for my entire trip and I had about $3,000 left over.

Any other time I have gone to Vegas has not been nearly as lucrative.

lol, I don't go to vegas to gamble, is not enjoyable to me. But there is something there for everyone.

Yeah my fantasy football league meets there every year for the draft and when we're there we don't do a whole lot of fine dining. LOL. We generally grab a quick sandwich here and there, drink rivers of beer, throw way too much money at the dancing girls, and blow everything else at the tables. It's a great time but I am glad we only do it once a year. I am getting too old for that shit.

Did you know that Syrenn used to not be a dancing girl in Vegas?
Rumor has it, she still isn't.

I always thought that they (and taxi drivers) were the worst to ask about good food...

You don't say? Perhaps I never threw some money at her once. :lmao:

Commander's Palace in New Orleans.

Great food and service. The flagship of the Brennen family's restaurant business.

Whether you are a poor college student who scrimped and saved for a date or a high roller, they treat you like you are a king.

And, unlike some, if I am paying for service; I don't want to be treated like shit. I can make my own damn food. I eat out because it is an event.

Oh then you would love a place called Dick's Last Resort. I strongly recommend you try it out. It will definitely be "an event" for you.

I know about Dicks. It's a chain restaurant for crying out loud.

Like I said, not my bag.

The taxi drivers in vegas only know the hookers...they get kick backs. The will also drive you the long way round if you dont know vegas well. I get there about 10 time a year.... so they cant pull much on me. Seriously. You would be surprised at what the cops can tell you if you ask nice.
