This is 2008, and being a teacher I understand that teenagers ages 14-18 are having sex no matter what you may think your child is/does. I, am realistic, and think that teaching safe sex in schools DOES NOT promote it, but does give these teens some education about it, though I respect that some don't agree.

BUT, not only does John McCain put a VP on the ticket that has no place being there, but also has consistently said in her 20 months as Governor that the schools should include 2 things in their curriculum: 1 - Abstinence 2 - Creationism

1) - Her story talks about how she's a mom that has an child with DS and she juggles her work with her home life and has made it work yet her 17 yr old is obviously having unprotected sex and also the fact that she had this child with DS knowingly(I have major respect for that) and also knowing that this kid needs much more attention yet she wants to be VP which means she'll never be able to provide that?

2) - She wants Creationism taught in schools yet there is absolutely NO proof of this and also incorporates Religion and Public Education which is a completely awful idea and is also directly against the Constitution. (remember, a separation between Church and State, our fantastic fore fathers made that because they knew then it was bad)

And, after all this, and including her serious lack of experience which, of course, McCain has spent the last 2 months trying to drill Obama on his lack of experience, doesn't show you all the hypocracy of this?

I just have NO IDEA how people can rationalize this, please explain this too me cause I guess I'm mentally handicapped

Maybe if you deal with soem solid facts you might be able to understand things.

1--You have no proof that Palin's daughter had unprotected sex.
2--She is part of a family that will ALL be able to help each other raise the
child to include the father.
3--Why is school teaching sex ed anyway and when did it become their job?
4-- Where in the constitution does it say "separation ogf church and state"

It's not as simple as you might think and the real shocker is that you may not be mentally handicapped. Just brainwashed.

Liberals and moderates believe that teenagers should be discouraged from having sexual intercourse. But liberals and moderates also believe in being totally open and honest about sex, by giving teenagers knowlege and facts that will protect them, including contraceptive choice and sexual responsibility.

Rightwingers believe in just teaching "abstinence only". Just say no to sex. This is Palin's view

That facts show in every non-partisan study done, that the Liberal way is more effective at protecting kids.

Because the Bush Twins were unavailable?

1) She's pregnant ain't she?
2) And this doesn't make her a hypocrite, how?
3) You could argue that about any subject...hell, why even have schools..
4) Where does it say in the constitution that church and state are entwined?

If contraception was perfect we wouldn't be needing abortion laws now would we---think about it.

she made one comment about teaching creationism in an '06 gubernatorial debate, and then backed down from it

sex ed should be in schools, republicans who claim otherwise are just naive

but I don't see how any of this is a knock against her, especially when all the dems who cried about how Clinton was being attacked personally, now have no problem crucifying an innocent 17 year old girl

What is so naive about keeping sex ed out of schools---I don't like what you wanna teach--you don't like what I wanna teach--How about we both teach our kids at home. If your way fails it sucks for you. If my way fails it sucks for me. I know---socialists love the "one size fits all " concept.

Who attacked the girl?

And who exposed her unmarried pregnant 17 year old daughter to the national press?

And what percentage of contreception fails? That aside, her mother believes in abstinence only. If she can't even convince her 17 year-old daughter to stop bonking, what right does she have to preach to the rest of the country?

I have no proof she had unprotected sex? She's pregnant right? Oh, I guess the condom broke? Well, then I ask, "I though you preached abstinence yet your daughter is OBVIOUSLY having sex?" Can we at least agree on that or was she impregnated by alien forces?

2nd- Where in the Constitution does it say that there has to be a separation between church and state, Have you ever read the Constitution? Wow, I'm shocked you didn't know that, I thought it was common sense but I guess not. KEEP RELIGION OUT OF SCHOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, based on your rational, I must be brainwashed

So now you don't want to teach biology in school because it's socialist?

That may be the dumbest thing I've ever heard and I'm a teacher so that says alot.

We need Abortion because condoms/pills aren't %100? Wow, thats why

Not because of rape, unwanted 13 years old pregnancies, or molestation by their family members? No, its because birth control doesn't work! Well, I'm 30, have had my share of experiences, and yet I've never had a child or gotten anyone pregnant, amazing! I must be very lucky

Sarah Palin has to take the offer. She can't use having a baby as an excuse. If she is looking at women's rights at all which on some level she has to be. She has to jump at the chance. If she says no i have a baby to take care of what happens to women's rights and equality. She is on the line for that now. That is not an excuse. A man would rarely if ever have to say I can't take the job I have a baby. Who takes care of the kids when a man is in the senate or VP or president or CEO. The other parent the wife. Thia may have to be reveresed or she depends on Day Care or a Nanny.

She can't say no.

Because most parents want sex ed taught. Human sexuality is an educational topic same as biology, physiology, and chemistry.

Besides, the states I lived in, sex ed was optional. No one forces a kid to take it, and parents can keep their kid out of sex ed classes.
