I keep hearing that we should bring government workers' compensation more in line with private workers. Never mind that it already is, but just for the sake of argument, if we are going to pay the public sector like the private sector, shouldn't we pay the President as much if not more than the CEO? After all, he's more important than any CEO! So let's pay the President $20 million a year.

Larry Ellison made $85 million in 2009, so $20 million is a bargain!

Don't you lefties understand anything but hatred and stupid socialist cliches? We don't pay Larry Ellison. He pays us. Guys like Ellison make the economy work. The private sector generates capital. Government confiscates it.

Well indeed! That is an excellant idea. Government employees should earn the same wages and benefits as the top private sector does, and not a penny more. That seems fair to me.

Maybe we should first find one worth the 400 grand we're paying now.
We sure aren't getting our money's worth on this guy.

:clap2:

You want to know how much the president, the VP and members of Congress make, including salary and perks??

Yep
Trust me.... he makes way more than $20,000,000.00 a year -- FOR LIFE --

Not a bad gig if ya ask me.

If they want to serve this country, fine let them serve. They should all be paid minimum wage.

Indeed, they are grossly underpaid and should receive immediate raises. How embarrassing for America to treat our top CEO like dog crap!!

"CEOs at the 292 S&P 500 companies for which there are data available were paid $9.25 million on average last year (including salary, bonus, stock, options and benefits), down 9 percent overall from the year prior."

I find that embarrassing Syrenn. It should be the average of top wage, which would be somewhere in the middle. Is that the way you would treat me as an employee?

I say we pay the President and Congress on a sliding scale based on performance. A budget deficit greater than 5% of total expenditures, no salary. Balanced budget: Congress critters get 350 grand and the President one million. (VP gets a clown suit and a fake flower)

Sometimes running a deficit is the right choice. Other times, such as now, it's the only choice.

in your opinion. you understand that half the country disagrees, right?

which is way better than the 28% approval for the last guy.

just sayin'. not that i don't think hillary would have been better, but if you think the rightwingers hate the president, i'm going to guess they'd be making hillary out to be a murderer....

again. :cuckoo:

It wouldn't matter if it had been Jesus(D) elected. As long as that (D) is there, they will try to frame him as an unmitigated failure.

I'm somewhat disappointed in this POTUS. But it takes a special kind of hackery to declare he's actually worse than the last boob we had in there...

Week 1, Rushbo said "ihopehefails' and ever since, they figure they'd declare him that no matter what. *shrug*

Republicans accused Clinton of shady deals to make a greedy buck. Clinton knew he didn't need to and didn't. Which is why the 40 million spent of taxpayers money going after Clinton only turned up Monica.

Since then, Clinton has earned more than a hundred million in book deals and speakers fees. You can bet Obama will earn three times that much. Good presidents make money after leaving office.

Bush won't be able to leave the country for fear of being arrested. He makes a few grand at rallies as the third string speaker.

Good presidents are rewarded. Let's leave it at that.

Ellison's money comes out of the same pockets that government worker's money comes out of.

If we had any sense and cared at all about the future of this country,

teaching would be the most highly respected profession and education would be the most valued institution.

And the coolest kids in school would be the math and science geniuses,

not the dumb ballplayers or cheerleaders.

The private sector rewarded the very people who caused this crash with million dollar bonuses.
