I am not NA, so I cannot speak for them. However, with that said, I took the code term meaning as honorable. Geronimo gave a good chase to the calvary. He was a very elusive man and made it difficult to catch him. I think they named it after him due to the same battle it was to find him as it was Geronimo. No insult intended.

actually the operation was named "operation neptune spear" and if Bin Ladin was captured or killed they would use code name "Geronimo" to confirm his demise...
