I'm in total agreement on this point.

Clearly, the powers that be either clueless...or they wish the 'war' to fail. Could there be some kick-backs from the drug trade that finds its way into the pols pockets?

Proposed many years ago, this would have taken care of the problem:
1. Confiscate illegal drugs...in drug busts and arrests.

2. Adulterate the drugs...add some hard to detect element that would produce some detectable effect, such as turning the user green.

3. Recirculate the 'doctored' drugs. The sale of same would pay for the entire program.

4. At some future date, arrest all the green people. (Is that 'profiling'?)

Voilà! Problem solved, thanks to the CAR plan!

The War on Drugs only made the drug problem worse.
Thanks Nixon.

Users of illegal drugs made the drug problem extant.

Thanks a lot, law-breakers.

Just like all the people that drank during prohibition gave rise to the US mafia.

Nothing to do with wrong minded government policies..no sir ree.

What is it this thread? You support "big government"?

Look at drug use before Nixon started the war on drugs and after he started it. ;)
Most of those drugs had been illegal for years. So thanks to law enforcement for going after small time drug criminals while letting the people really behind trafficking keep going.
The goverment has wasted too much money on the War on drugs, to do what? Make it worse? Plus if someone wants to get high, that is their problem.

I have always thought it was interesting the black man who was dealing the drugs in the LA are that was "probably" brought it by the CIA has been in prison for years but no one else has served jail time, not the people who brought the drugs into the country.

I loved the ads on pot and supporting terrorism. I for one always bought local, second it is the goverments fault if terrorism is supported by pot. The US could support its own marijuana industry if legalized. With it being illegal drug cartels will continue to bring it in, or have minions grow it for them here.

wow....whatta revelation.....

.....in 1972.

"In 1968, Governor Shafer became involved when Pennsylvania students were supposedly blinded by LSD use. Shafer later called the incident a hoax."

You "conservatives" surely are quite the sadistic-pricks.

Maybe you need to figure-out....

.....and, quit sharing your misery with others.

:eusa_eh:

Ron Paul is right. The War on Drugs has failed.
....Pretty-much the end-result of ANYTHING, that was a "conservative"/fa$ci$t-hu$tle....

We are a Prison State now and it would be very difficult to reverse that course. So many have made a lot of money off locking American Citizens up. I don't see them giving that up without a huge fight. Think about how many would lose their jobs. What would the DEA do without all that kicking down Citzens' doors stuff? What would you do wth the DEA for that matter? They've become an incredibly powerful Government institution. People like Ron Paul probably scare the hell out of them.
